Blackhawks Recall Nicolas Beaudin, Send Reese Johnson Back To Rockford

On Thursday morning, the Blackhawks made a couple roster moves.

Nicolas Beaudin has been recalled from the IceHogs and Reese Johnson is headed to Rockford.

Isaak Phillips is currently in COVID protocol, so we’ll see if Beaudin gets any run. Riley Stillman returned to the lineup and picked up an assist on Wednesday night.

Beaudin in for Gus? I’m down for that

The fact that Strome sat in favour of RJ who it now appears the Hawks admit is currently an AHL player shows that whatever is going on between JC and Strome is personal – Strome is an NHL player RJ is not yet Johnson got the nod last night and has other nights as well over Strome

Even if Strome plays 4th line minutes he can contribute on the PP take FOs and provide a little offense to the 4th line – I thought he did that well vs OTT but clearly he’s no Reese Johnson

I haven’t given up on RJ but he’s not ready and with Entwistle Hardman Carp and Khaira all in the line up they didn’t need RJ as well – the Hawks are currently 4th in the NHL with hits per game average but their expected goals per game for is one of the worst so doesn’t Strome make more sense than Johnson to have in the line up?

    Apparently not according to JC

Kane Toews Debrincat Kubalik Dach Hagel is the top 6.

Strome is 7th. Can’t trade him as a benchwarmer on a bottom team and expect much in return. Kurashev maybe 8th.

Borgstrom Gaudette need TOI to show what they have. Play them!

Buyout TJ and Connelly next summer.

    Gaudette>Strome

The Strome fascination is quite funny. He’s a one trick pony on a team full of
one trick ponies. The Hawks can’t afford all these one trick ponies if they are
to become a good team. You need players who do more than what Strome
    brings to the table.

Strome can’t skate and in today’s NHL that is very problematic. He doesn’t win faceoffs at a level to be a specialist, that’s Toews job anyway, and he does not play well on the boards. I am trying to figure our what his 1 trick is to qualify for Pony status. Put Gaudette and Borgstrom out there for the rest of the season and see what you have. If Beaudin is destined for the obligatory Colliton 7 minutes a game of ice time they are doing him no good. Time to roll him out there on a regular pairing to play in difficult situations. You’re a 1 win team, this is the time to see what these guys do with some real ice time. Alas Colliton is trying to save his job so we will get Kane and Seth Jones 29 minutes a night.

Hey, stop your bitching, Jeremy Colliton has the Secret Sauce: After 10 losses, he knows to keep doing what he has been doing. He has every reason to expect a different result next time because even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while. Yup, Jeremy knows it is best to play 4th liners throughout the lineup, to NEVER put a line together that makes any sense (so as to completely baffle the opponent) and to NEVER play all of his most skilled players. Look for a win next game.

TW – here’s a good prop bet – who’s scores first Toews or Strome?

Of course Tazer has a huge edge because he plays 17 minutes every game but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Strome gets one first even playing once every 4 games or so

I like R. Johnson. He just leaves everything on the ice. Players like T. Johnson and J. Khaira are good guys. They just were not needed. Strome should be on the ice. Tim W. asked what Strome’s “one trick is?” He is a good setup guy. He’s not a sniper. He’s not a physical presence. He is a guy who is a passer…a setup guy. I’d like to see him on the wing with DeBrincat and whoever is the Center. I’ve never been a fan of Kane and DeBrincat on the same line. Two elite snipers should be on separate lines to make the other team react.
Beaudin getting called up is a head scratcher. Why? The kid needs steady TOI. He won’t get that with Colliton.
This season is not a good one. I know. It’s early. But, with this coach and the front office in panic mode. This isn’t good. No #1 pick next year. The team will not get a #1 with Strome and even with Fleury. No one is as dumb as Bowman was. Watching Colliton screw up night in and night out, running the best players into the ground with ridiculous minutes. It’s just tough to watch.

Apparently because of travel restrictions into Canada fir the WPG game Friday neither Khaira or Stillman can cross the border so they need another D to fill out the roster – guess they thought they’d give Beaudin a chance over Phillips- that’s reasonable

Maybe Strome gets in maybe not

Am I the only one that feels that #23 should be watching the game from a box rather than being on the ice & not producing at the level needed. We have all heard about & seen a ” GOALIE WIN, LAST NIGHT WE SAW A GOALIE LOSS ” !!!!!!!

Wrap , I know I am going to shock you here because you know how big of a Strome fan I am , but I have to take Strome for the first to goal#1. Of course you would have to give me 3 straight games of Strome in the lineup. I think right before our eyes Toews has turned into Kamph which means the only goal he can get would be 1 off his rearend or shin pad.

TW – Strome for 3 straight games and I think he probably scores too and unfortunately Toews just doesn’t like like he’s even close to netting one – I’m we’d all and Toews too take a rearender at this point ; )

After seeing the play leading to the Canes 2nd goal there is really nothing left to say. Up 3-1 against one of the best teams in the league and not one but both d-men get caught in the o-zone, no forward helps them out and on the ensuing breakaway MAF goes for the stick check and can’t even stop a puck that the shooter lost control of. The failure of the coaching staff is one thing but how a group of players can be so unaware of the game circumstances is really sad.

Hawks Win – in his 4th season JC has yet to figure out how to teach the very thing you’re talking about – playing to the game score and the time remaining in the game

Late game bone headed decisions especially with lead are de rigeur for all of JC’s Hawk teams

Yes the individual players are making the mistakes but we’ve seen these egregious blunders ever since JC arrived and its not really gotten any better

Wrap thing with Toews he is being used now as his match up C taking Dzone fos against other teams top scoring lines because they don’t have anybody else who can handle that role. Being C on no.1 pp that is up near the top of the league and regular pk duties on another near top league special team unit allows him to manage his minutes with less 5 on 5 mins as he still 2C minute wise and top 5 in forward mins on almost nightly basis. Then he can roll 2 other lines to concentrate on the 5 on 5 scoring, problem is 8 games in they weren’t scoring. Had to put 19 and 88 together finally with Hagel to get anything happening there too. No he can’t do it all like he once did but he’s back doing his part unlike some others that don’t seem to be doing theirs.

Beaudin has skill. Reese provides toughness. Does this occur to the braindead Blackhawks organization that they should scout skillful tough players eventually. I am totally disgusted with the Hawks brass. PS … Fire Colliton. We are probably the only NHL team that does NOT have an NHL Coach.

TW – yeah it’s hard to see a Hawks win tonight but that’s why they play the games

7 against seems high – Lank should be in net after all

Hawks might play well for 2 periods but their inability to play well in the third will probably cost them again – nevertheless I’ll be watching unless it gets really ugly – there have been multiple games already this year where I have to stop watching for my own mental health

Beaudin -small frame skin and bone player. blowman had a hard on for this players. from the ahl to the nhl this organization is screwed not even thinking about the kyle beach case. this organization will be in darker day than the dollar bill era.

what is sad that in 6-10 months the NHL will forget about this kyle beach event. nothing will come about this and again will be swept under once payment is made. how does one like Buttman and Daly and Fehr still hold a job, while Q is fired? follow the money i guess is the saying.

hey tab what chapter number will you title 2016-2030 of the chicago blackhawks? Pig vomit, blinded by winning, devil management/coaches?

    Gustav Forsling D 10 0 9 9 5 4 21:27

seth jones was the last of the seabrook/bickell-type overpayments. had bowman stayed with the team it was only a matter of time before jones got packaged with some prospect to get out of his ridiculous contract. the fact is this team is bad, looks bad for the next few years, BUT bowman is out. so hopefully with that change will come years of keeping our good players and not giving up on them/giving them away because of other bad negotiations. that is what we have to look forward to as fans.

Tommy, Rocky has gone WOKE front office wise. No way in HELL he allows a strong hard ass like Torts to be hired. Any hirings will be Olczyk types in nature and an old retread coach who won’t rock the boat too hard.

I agree with you Tim W. There is no chance in hell that the FO takes a chance on a coach who may or may not say something inappropriate and then the SQUAD types go after him. You can’t call dog-shit players dog-shit, because their little feelings will get hurt. We are raising a generation of P****ies, even on the ice!

Also, I agree with Hawk2015, a great year by the way! There is no way that a guy like Forsling would have developed here! Not with this clown-show in the locker room and in the FO.

Until the Wirtz’ sell the team or some cataclysmic shift in hockey happens, these Hawks are going to suck for a long time!

The Blackhawks site shows Borgstrom as a scratch, in favor of Kurashev. Colliton has a chub for Kurashev. The kid should be at Rockford. He’s not a bad player. He’s just not ready for the NHL. Borgstrom actually is ready. He should be gettting the 2C slot. Dach is slated at the 1C and Toews at the 3C. As for Strome, while he should get the nod at 2C and have Borgstrom on the RW, it wouldn’t bother me if those two players swapped positions. What’s really puzzling is seeing Gustafsson and Beaudin paired together. I really hope that Kalynuk comes back soon and, when out of Canada, why not slot Stillman in with S. Jones. de Haan is not a bad guy, but he should be the 7th defensemen.
Colliton continues to show he is not a HC. If he’s blaming players instead of himself and his coaches…he has lost total control of the team and needs to be let go.
I think these players can be molded into effective lines and a very competitive team. It just won’t happen with this coaching staff. Meanwhile…let’s hope for a strong 60 minutes tonight. Go Hawks!!!

  • November 5, 2021 at 5:13 pm

Pretty sure that Borgstrom like Stillman and Khaira can’t play in tonights game because of Canadian travel restrictions due to Covid – the NHL rules require 10 days of isolation whilst Canada to cross the border requires 14 – that’s my understanding of the situation- Borgstrom Stillman and Khaira were only cleared by the NHL 3 days ago I think

  • November 5, 2021 at 5:26 pm

Yeah Borgstrom not eligible tonight. Borgstrom was playing between Cat and Hardman which actually was one line combo that looked like it was working. Hope he slots in there again when he returns. Kurashev has the skill just doesn’t serm to know how to use it to make him an effective player consistently at Nhl level yet.

Jets a big mobile team that’s hot right now and will be tough matchup for the Blackhawks tonight.
