I imagine they re-sign DuClair, Jurco and Chaput for depth – maybe one of them breaks out and stays in CHI all year, somebody may be traded or waived to RKF

  • June 25, 2018 at 7:23 am

Yeah agree likely 1 or 2 rfa forwards remain as depth players. 47 is usually about max where they sit for contracts, to allow some wiggle room. So got to think there will be some bodies moving and some acquisitions to come.

  • June 25, 2018 at 8:18 am

Duclair is the only one I would keep, all the others bye.

  • June 25, 2018 at 9:02 am

Fir what its worth Jurco had a decent world championship tourney, had 3 or 4g and about 1pt. Per game after showing a little improvement late in the year.

  • June 25, 2018 at 9:48 am

Clendening is like a bad penny…

  • June 25, 2018 at 10:07 am

Does anyone really want to resign these guys?
    Michael Rozsival, D
    Cody Franson, D
    Viktor Svedberg, D
    Lance Bouma, F
    Jordin Tootoo, F
    Jeff Glass, G

As far as RFA ‘s Use Jurco, Duclair and Chaput in trades. Clendening is in a crowded position right now. His only good thing is that he is a right hand shot

  • June 25, 2018 at 10:09 am

zero concern here, DuClair would be nice if the money and terms are good otherwise see ya!

  • June 25, 2018 at 10:35 am

Duclair is fools gold – looks like the real thing but actually worthless. He should do well though in the Austrian league (hopefully with Oesterle in tow).

Jurco finally showed a glimmer late last year and in the WC and might be worth another year on a cheap deal.

  • June 25, 2018 at 11:09 am

Don’t see anyone on these lists that need to be re-signed…period.

  • June 25, 2018 at 11:18 am

While I do like all the rfa’s. I’m not sure any of them will or should be back.
I think Chaput and Clendening would be good guys to keep for Rockford. With Chaput a decent option for 4th line or extra forward for the hawks.
Duclair and Jurco are both decently talented but will they be better options then what will be out there in free agency.
That being said I wouldn’t mind either being back on 1yr deals.
Still like duclairs speed and Jurco seemed to be in the right spots and his compete level looked much better then when he came over in the trade.
Worst comes to worst they sign both and waive or trade both if they aren’t on the team.

    Can’t wait for July 1st.

  • June 25, 2018 at 11:18 am

It’s tough to give up on players who have the physical ability to play in the NHL, and both Jurco and Duclair have that. But at some point you gotta cut bait and if they go somewhere else and flourish – then good for them and no regrets.

Jurco is 25 and Duclair 22. Time to cut bait on Jurco.

  • June 25, 2018 at 11:44 am

Sign Rozy for .925< and have him on Rockford roster until he’s a coaching crew.

Whether Suclair or Jurco play/23man they can be in trades that good for them and team. There’s only good in that for both.

“The Chicago Blackhawks have reached out to unrestricted free agent goaltender Carter Hutton, reports Mark Lazerus of The Chicago Sun-Times.”

This makes sense. The Hawks need an established backup. Goaltending really failed them last season. A lot has to do with the Hawks blueline. They were abysmal last season one through six. Just wondering if Hutton wants to back up Crow or try somewhere for a starting gig. I am assuming Colin Delia and Forsberg will battle in the A for the job. The others are just warm bodies in my opinion.

  • June 25, 2018 at 11:51 am

Was just coming here to post that.

    Paying doctor Hutton, ding ding.

Jurco- I agree with Jordyhawk and Ian… Kid has improved… Skates very well… plays “the right way” and goes to the right places… if he is your 12th/13th guy and or checking forward… you could do worse… at the end of day- he is NOT that good…

But- he plays hard and smart… I can’t always say that for Duclair

Stephanie– Love the Bad Penny/Clendening… Guy is terrible in NHL.. but – All-star in AHL

  • June 25, 2018 at 12:03 pm

Rozsival, ha! One of Q’s all time favorites. He possess (passed down by Bollig & Mashinter, Tootoo had his hands on it too) the album of Q incriminating photos. Shared it w/ Oesterle last season. Kempny never had access to this, despite the countryman common thread.

Allegedly, Martinsen got tight w/ Rozsival during his short stint w/ the Hawks at the end of the season. :(((((

  • June 25, 2018 at 12:27 pm

I think even Duclair himself realizes how much he under achieved last season. I believe he is worth another chance to prove himself. The mistake might have been starting him off with the top Hawks.
Jurco was trending in the right direction by the end of the year.
Hawks do need to find a quality back-up to give Crow a few nights off.
Hawks are also in need of a good quarterback on the PP.
10 million in cap space, spend it wisely Mr Bowman.
2018-19 is the bounce back year after this year of total frustration says the long time Hawk fan.

  • June 25, 2018 at 12:47 pm

Read somewhere that chaput’s agent said he will be a free agent. I think the idea behind the trade was to free up a roster spot.

  • June 25, 2018 at 1:23 pm

    Love me som Rozy.

Being on the same team as you is all the padding I need, Rozy.

  • June 25, 2018 at 1:52 pm

    Orpik anyone.

  • June 25, 2018 at 2:02 pm

    Not big on him

  • June 25, 2018 at 2:10 pm

re: signing additional free agents – reminder that the Hawks already have 15 under contract for next season.

  • June 25, 2018 at 2:29 pm

Scott Powers reporting team will not make offers to Jurco, Duclair, Clendenning, or Chaput.

  • June 25, 2018 at 2:37 pm

Also- hearing that No One wants Hossa contract… so guessing he will be LTIR
again… or worse Stan will have to Pay some one to take it!!!

Here is hoping that Kahun is Panarin 2.0 and Toews ate a few steaks this summer…

or it could be another long year next year…

  • June 25, 2018 at 2:53 pm

Move Hossa or ltir him off season still have 11 to 12m without any other moves.

  • June 25, 2018 at 2:57 pm

We have to trade 81 caphit, so we can bank space. Having 16m in cap space, use whatever, the rest needs to be banked so we do not have any extra bonuses carry past and pay for this yrs as well. Its worth that.

Common OTT, after you trade your roster.

  • June 25, 2018 at 3:00 pm

Mo i say if you get Panarin, you deal with his raise. Take a chance on Kahun and deal with overages, could be a pick your poison situation.

  • June 25, 2018 at 3:07 pm

If you’re hearing nobody wants Hossa’s contract you sincerely need to update who/what/where you’re following.

Lots of cap floor teams would take on a $5M+ cap hit w/ only $1M in real money going out the door via salary.

  • June 25, 2018 at 3:17 pm

Agree Canes likely shed alot of cap yet, Coyotes losing Boland after this season might not want lose out on it. Ottawa trying could move Karlsson and Ryan. Hard to believe somebody wouldn’t.

  • June 25, 2018 at 4:45 pm

I want us to take advantage of thie blessing to get back up to date and pay fir this yr bonuses with not using the entire 16m when we can. So when were deep again, we go in to those coming yrs with no anchors bonuses wise. Were in this situation of not having 81/4 for a yr, lets get reward for paying our dues last yr in terms of that.

    Be creative.

  • June 25, 2018 at 5:39 pm

I think it depends on whether they think they this year or not. If you want keep playing guys like Forsling, Dahlstrom, Hillman, Murphy and Gus to see how they develop and leave room in Rockford for the other young D guys to develop.

Give the younger forwards a year more and blend in some new ones, thats great. But by not qualifying Duclair for 1.2m and Jurco for $840,000 and trading Kero it appears he is getting ready to make some acquisitions. If Hossa , AA moved next year and Rutta and maybe ufa to a one or 2 year deal it wouldn’t be to hard to find space needed going forward if he spends whats available this year.

  • June 25, 2018 at 5:40 pm

Think they can win this year. Sorry

  • June 25, 2018 at 9:17 pm

We get 81/4 back, we can. need the Crow and the top guys to play as good as they are, even if their not in prime of prime yrs…. it still might not have enough young guys established yet, they are close. Those guys take it to next level for them and the other play, we can. The coming yrs after this yr should be better roster wise.

Its sort of like Celtics prob better they didn’t play Golden this yr when they were that young, now the Celtics will be better and there/better to win.

We can win on any yr, that’s cool. Like Celtics were prob better for 20 and on, when TB, TOR and east teams wont be as deep as well. Timing on that.

We want 81/4 and the Crow and deepness again, then were there. Tim Thomas was good to 40? so the Crow can be.

  • June 25, 2018 at 9:18 pm

For anyone to say we cant win this yr no matter what, is the same thing as saying were winning no matter what.

I am saying we need 81/4 back, the Crow and top guys playing and young guys get better each yr. Then were back.

  • June 25, 2018 at 9:38 pm

WIN and NAS are top team in Cambell. Well get better each yr for the 5 coming yrs. During that time those teams will stay same or little worse. We win on some yrs and they do as well. Those teams should make us better, since their better then other teams. Key is to not wear yourself out like WIN did. That’s where our core guys have the advantage of knowing what to do. WIN might seem like 09 CHI but their not winning the Cup 3 times in a short period.

We need to be as good to beat them and win. Do not have to be better. Our goalie is better then those teams and others.

  • June 25, 2018 at 9:41 pm

    You know this stuff.

We need to get back roster wise and with wave of young players to keep rising/getting better each yr. Then hey theres that Kane guy better keep an eye on him as Schmaltz dazzles by the defender shoots and scores!

  • June 25, 2018 at 11:20 pm

RE: Hossa contract… will be a game of chicken… and longer Bowman waits… less other UFAs are available… Other GMs will out last Bowman… and Bowman will have to add sweetener to get it done

  • June 26, 2018 at 4:35 am

    I am a fucking moron.

  • June 26, 2018 at 6:10 am

Wall Bowman can use the preseason ltir route to outlast them. He would be able with 10% above cap kicking in on July 1st to have plenty of room to be able to sign contracts to be up 84.775m prior to opening day. So he is quite right not to cave and wait for better offer, its not essential this year to move it.

  • June 26, 2018 at 6:20 am

He could have close to 13m for a goalie and 2 skaters by leaving 3 roster spots empty and not have to move a contract.

  • June 26, 2018 at 8:29 am

    Wouldn’t we have 79.5 and 7.5m for 10%

  • June 26, 2018 at 8:35 am

Off season ltir would allow 79.5 + 5.275( hossa caphit) = 84.775 fo day before season starts that could exceed salary cap. But yes 79.5 + 10% until then or 87.5m.

  • June 26, 2018 at 8:55 am

Basically Mo that would allow you to use the full 79.5m caphit going into season without having Hossa caphit to count against cap space if it isn’t moved.

  • June 26, 2018 at 10:54 am

One other option could be better if keeping Hossa contract, would be move AA and have 12.3m to add to 2skaters and a goalie. Then ltir Hossa same as last year on opening day and acquire a rental that comes off the books at end of season with it if they wanted and stay under and accrue space until deadline.

  • June 26, 2018 at 12:20 pm

Yea was thinking about what we have to use during summer then be at those numbers for OCT.

  • June 26, 2018 at 12:22 pm

I want bank space now when we might not use entire cap so we’re good to go for full usage each yr when we’re deep again.
