Blackhawks Sign 3, Dump Salak

On Monday, the Chicago Blackhawks announced three roster moves.

The organization agreed to two-year deals with forwards Ben Smith and Brandon Bollig. Both contracts are two-way in the first season, and one-way contracts in the second. Chicago also agreed to terms with goaltender Carter Hutton on a one-year, two-way deal.

Also on Monday, netminder Alexander Salak was officially sent packing by the organization.

I’m glad Bollig is signed. Depending on any(?) changes they make, he might have a spot – I thought he played his role well (- except for not beating Torres into a coma after the headshot on Hossa). I hope Ben Smith is OK – he showed some skill. The Hawks have a lot of players signed. I don’t know if this is an indication that they may be dealing or not? (Bowman spoke about liking the players they have, so who knows? Not winning in the post season is incentive to improve…)

Dickie, Rumers about possible trades on hockeybuzz. Finally news on Smith I believe he has got talent for NHL. Does this mean we now have 4 – 3/4th line centers? Krug Meyers Smith and Boland. Some say Kruger might get 2nd line. SAD SACK Salak is gone after doing his best Steve Mason impression. I truely hope BIG news is in Hawks future can`t really see us getting much further w/o changes in defense and on boards. This is a good start.

Tab, do you know how many contracts the Blackhawks have signed currently? Just curious.

And, as for the goalie situation for Rockford this season – will one of Simpson or Carruth go back to Junior? Or perhaps one to the ECHL?

I’m thinking Carruth will be the guy in Rockford. JMO.

Carruth could steal the job if given the chance, but Hutton played well last season – stole the job actually, so he’ll be the starting goalie on opening night.

Please tell me this is NOT true…I understand it is a rumor but Eklund has been floating this one around for quite some time…

    “On Luongo…

A player I really thought would be going later…may actually be the closest to making a deal…Toronto of course, but I keep hearing Chicago…”
