Blackhawks Sign Alexandre Fortin

On Sunday morning the Chicago Blackhawks announced they have signed 19-year-old undrafted forward Alexandre Fortin to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Fortin, 19, scored 19 goals with 24 assists in 54 games with Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the QMJHL last season. He was the talk of the Blackhawks’ summer prospect camp and performed well again as an invited free agent as last weekend’s prospect tournament at Traverse City.

To Add… this kid appears to be an “Overachiever”… kind of reads like Shaw’s past…
    undrafted/Played for M-Cup team/Very Good IQ/Unheralded Player on a very Good team.

Watching him at Prospect Camp- two things stuck out to me… very quick/nimble skater… and always in the right place/position on forecheck… Like Shaw- he seems to have the “winner’s” mentality of sacrificing his “scoring/stats” for the better of the team- and understanding his role… easy to root for a guy like that!!!

    same mold as a Kruger/Shaw/Frolik-imo

Need to calm our expectations of the kid. He went undrafted twice. Doesnt necessarily mean anything. But their is a reason. He has had hip and injury issues. So maybe those are finally cleared up. Stick him in Rockford for the year. Let the contract slide and re-assess next summer.

Merci Hawkhead ….Your french is getting better ;) …i was affraid last month that the Hawks would let him go to another team and finaly they sign Him for 3 years …nobody at the draft look at him ..like Shaw a few years ago …i dont know him a lot but i know the kid is a warrior ,Focus on the team and on winning …great attitude …he can be a kind of TVR , not the best player on the ice but always doing the job they ask him to do …if the kid can gain some weight and can continue to improve he will play for the Hawks in less then 2 years …..the upside are there for the kid ….let see what happen in the next few months

wouldn’t be surprised if he sticks on the roster this year. The opportunity is there for forwards and wings who wants it!

I’d be shocked if he overtakes Schmaltz, Motte, Hinostroza, Hartman, and McNeil this year.

Perspective…Tanner Pearson went undrafted twice. Unsigned. Then drafted as a first round pick with the Kings.
