Ok and solid enough of a deal.
Worst comes to worst a seasoned somewhat vet for Rockford.
    Congrats to him.

Good guy deserves more yrs. Keep getting better with more experience/games. He still can be one of the Big Defensemen we need.

Ho hum, bowman has no idea how to build a balanced defense and/or assess d talent. As evident by their situation now. Dahlstrom another slow footed, inexperienced. If bowman isn’t cannafter this yr I will not be buying tickets until he’s gone

what if they keep bowman for 10 years and they win 5 championships, sucks to be you Chris if you keep your integrity which I doubt will be the case. Making idle threats out of frustration is never a good thing. I am the first to admit this was a potential playoff team that sh** the bed the last 5 games. I dont blame Bowman; in fact, if it was not for the drafts of certain people who fell to them in the 2nd round (Saad, DCat) and some first round drafts (Schmatlz) when someone on this site was on the Fabri bandwagon. There was no one the Hawks could sign last year that would have made them even a playoff team. Look at the stacked Montreal/CBJ where one of these teams will be out.

The season is what it is. A team with the same holes that ended last season, a goalie who had some fluke hits that caused concussions and two major DEF on the downside of their careers (Keith/Seabrook). GUS was the best DEF of player this year, enough said. My hope is that 3 or 4 of the upcoming DEF make an impact soon. To Dahlstrom/Slater with Murphy makes a solid 5/6 DEF core. The problem is Seabrook should be a 6 and Keith a 4 at best.

Forsling, Koekkoek, and Hillman all RFA’s. I doubt Hillman gets re-upped. Will be interesting to see with the other two. Based on recent playing time, Coach C seems to prefer Forsling over KK and Dahlstrom. We have too many of these not-quite-good-enough guys so expect someone will not get a chair when the music stops.

Is it damning with faint praise to say this is a good deal because it won’t cost any cap space to bury him in Rockford?

We have several good young defensemen coming up from college and OHL, QHL, and WHL. Plus, soon we will have to pay bigger bucks to Cat, Strome, and maybe Perlini.

The only feasible plan is to unload Keith while he still has some value. Seabrook may still have some value too but you would really need to sweeten the deal to unload him (as well as take back some salary). Yes, they both have no movement clauses but Bowman needs to make the effort. Also, I would like to keep Murphy as I think he is underrated. All the young D guys coming up are on the smallish side and we need someone with some size.

I agree with EbonyRaptor (awful name sorry lol). Right price but hes not much more than depth.

The four horseman-ugh not a good description when theyre all on the same horse-are years away with Joki being the exception. The Blackhawks need to find interim dmen while those said prospects develop otherwise kane and toews are wasting more good years like this season.

The biggest D mistake recently made was Kempny. Now top pair, leads Caps in +/- by far.
Mobile, decent size, an integral part of Washington although recently got banged up.

Whenever I read Kempny’s name I ponder how he’d play under Colliton. I believe he wouldve adjusted well. I remember reading him saying he adjusted easily to Trotz defense system.

I watched Jan Rutta play the other night against Boston. Looked alright but he is on a 60 win team. (Great game btw)

The fear now is Bowman will see how close Chicago was to making the playoffs and once again deem the defence fine and let it go into next training camp as is. I’d like to believe he can see how many high danger chances were happening per game but he didn’t change the defence last year so maybe he won’t this year.

If Dahlstrom is anything but a 7th D at best or injury replacement next year it’ll be a sign that the Hawks are having another below average year

He’s not top 6 on a good team – not yet anyway – maybe in 2 or 3 years if he keeps improving

Having said that he can still go to RKF without waivers and be a depth D man without cap consequences or he can be traded – none of which can happen if they don’t sign him so I’m OK with it but there obviously still has be at least one legit addition to the blue line plus Joki

Would Forsling and Dahl get us Manson? Or Fowler. You can even make more openings for the D men coming up if you add Gus and Ana send us a pick if they want all 3.

Wow. Tough crowd. Dahlstrom has had some good moments. Sure he has looked shaky recently but so do a lot of defensemen when they are just getting their sea legs. Scott Powers put it best that he was thrust into a shutdown role and did pretty well until his play tailed off.
For what it’s worth Nik H. Was terrible in the Cup Final against Philadelphia series back in 2010. He evolved after that.
    Development takes patience.

Seabs was playing well-now penalties because of laziness or tiredness. AND no response when Crawford run again-somebody man up please!
