Blackhawks Trade Marc-André Fleury To Minnesota

According to a number of outlets, the Blackhawks have received the green light to trade goaltender Marc-André Fleury to the Minnesota Wild.

Based on reports (see below), Chicago is adding a conditional second-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. Assuming this pick doesn’t become a first, the Blackhawks would now have five picks between the second and third rounds of the 2022 NHL Draft; their first, assuming the Hawks don’t win the lottery and wind up with a top-two overall pick, is owned by Columbus via the Seth Jones trade.

UPDATE: Frank Seravalli is reporting the Blackhawks are retaining 50 percent of Fleury’s cap hit.

With a limited market for goaltenders, Fleury’s ability to control his ultimate destination and his cap hit being what it is, this was a solid move by Kyle Davidson.

Hurrah!! Anything is better than nothing. Essentially got him for free, so a 2nd rd is great. His performance lately was certainly questionable.

2 for 2 on trades for KD. Becoming a bigger MAF fan now. Hope Minny gets to the WCFs with MAF getting 4Ws!

Either be a 25-30th range or 50 to 60th range pick.

If no one offered an unconditional first presumably this was the best deal out there. No complaints.

Now do CDH, Kube, and anyone not named DeCat.

excellent. kudos to kd. glad he wasn’t stubborn about holding out for a first round pick, but still created the possibility it turns into that.

    now:

the same mentality for any of the following: murphy, mc cabe, de haan, carpenter, strome, kubalik. if he is of a mind to move any or all of those guys it is important he remembers the return from the other team is not the only factor involved. it is also the playing time for younger guys that is created. shoot for the moon in any trade, but if it is a player who kd does not consider to be in the rebuild than take whatever he can get and make the trade.

MOVE KANE & TOEWS. don’t expect that today, but get what he can over the summer.

    Go Wild!

Better than expected return – a 2nd would have been fine – the chance to make it a first is good GMing – probably won’t happen but…

This is really good news. We will always love Fleury, but once it became apparent what this season is, there was no longer any point.

It is obviously in our interest to pull for Minnesota now, but that will be really hard to do. Realistically, a second was probably the best we could hope for. The condition makes it very interesting.

Hopefully, we will see about 4 more posts like this today from Tab.

Ian- my Cap Guru… w/ this deal- How much Cap room does Minnesota have left… to seek another rental? Hoping enough powder left for another Playoff rental– and make it to WC finals!!!!!

    Raddysh + Heinz57 + 2 First rounders…. Davidson did all right…

Now hire the “right scouts” to make these picks matter… or It won’t matter… if I may provide some “yogi-bear-ism here”

You got something for Fleury and that’s a positive. I hope people don’t start whining when we get blown out of games now. Hate to do it but you have to root for the Wild to make it a 1st round pick. If KD can get anything for Kubalik that would be great.

Haven’t been here in awhile been with the penn state wrestling team.

Would think you get a 1st pick whatever.

You can’t trade Havel you donot stupid. That’s the type of players we need and keep when reloading.

Trade Kane and any contract yr player and have the, come back for free.

The goal is top 5 or bottom 5 reload and f ing keep the right kind of players please.

    Cheers.

Would be happy to see minn win the cup they are tied for 3rd in goals for and a top 5 goalie can help the d.

Donot like col but if tb is anywhere near finals need col or other top team to win.

20 games 5-15 with half a roster trade trade line players still would need bottom three teams to go 10-10 prob not happening. Top 3 pick next yr draft one more embrace the sick yr and we need to have shht rec to do that. Let the young players play and reload top 5 picks. It’s the only way.

Also get the new team system and gm staff in here that has the identity that we need to get back right where we started from.

    Reload.

Considering the situation, a good trade. I always thought Flower was a great goalie, but watching him game in and game out was probably the highlight of this lowlights season.

@MAF – I think this was a great return, especially for a guy that held all the cards. The Hawks could not trade him back to Vegas, he was done with them. Plus, he did not want to go to Toronto. The “intern” did as well as he could, and possibly this could turn into a lower tier 1st. Let’s move on from Kubalik, DeHaan, Carpenter, McCabe, Kurashev, Borgstrom, and Dach…yes Dach!

Happy with the MAF deal. Not a big Guerin fan but give him credit, he got Fleury to help their playoff chances for a 1st that is 29th to 32nd overall or late 2nd. Traded MacBain for Coyotes 2nd which will be a top 35 pick only a few spots back of his 1st if Blackhawks get it and keep his 2nd. If not he gets his 1st that is a top 29 pick and another top 35 pick.

MacBain was going to walk as a ufa for nothing in August if not traded as well.

Tommy, i would’ve too but that’s my point. This way Guerin gets a good playoff run or 2 top 35 picks. Trading MacBain for Fleury straight up he gets his 1st or 2nd either way, which is worst case for Wild now basically.

Ian – if MIN goes out in first or second round that 2nd round draft pick should come in middle second round

Somewhere around 50 overall rather than 60 – small point I know

Well, MAF gone and not forgotten ! An acrobat , in top shape ! He got a standing ovation when the Montrealer ,French Canadian played at the Bell centre for the Hawks ! A class act , wishing him well with the WILD ! He will likely go to the HOF in Toronto ,along with that other guy ,Crosby ! Now let’s see how the Hawks do in the last 15 games of the season ! I’m sure Davidson will draft a few O or Q or W Canadians , BEST, POPS 4
