Blackhawks Trade Ryan Carpenter To Calgary
The Blackhawks reportedly snuck one more deal under the wire on Monday, sending veteran forward Ryan Carpenter to the Calgary Flames.
Chicago is reportedly receiving a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft from the Flames in the deal.
excellent. a seventh would have been fine.
wonder if strome and kubalik are still here because kd chose not to trade them or asked for too much in return for them.
guess the league wasn’t all that impressed with de haan being a valuable addition.
Good. And no complaints with the effort he brought. Good luck to him.
Everyone will be disappointed if CDH hasn’t been moved. Maybe they should have a special hour at the end of the TDL for a blind auction – teams could throw the guys they still want to move into a pot and the buyers could submit bids on them with the highest winning. Yeah I know, not happening but it would be nice to have a way to clear the deck even if it was just for peanuts.
Ok Wednesday we go with
Raddysh Strome DCat
Kubalik Toews Kane
Katchouk Entwistle Dach
Kurashev Borgstrom Lafferty
Jones Jones
Mitchell/Regula Vlasic
McCabe Stillman
Lankinen
We can pick up Mrazek off waivers
Well, overall, I think the moves were fine considering with what KD had to work with. It’s all on whoever’s in the scouting department now. And with that, that will conclude our Blackhawk season. No need to wear out S Jones anymore. Don’t know if they want to bring some kids up or just keep them in Rockford until next year and start fresh. Now for the real ugly part. Better make it 3 beers and a seat for $50. The laugh I got yesterday was when they announced the BCBS fans of the night and shown them on TV sitting in a section with nobody in it. History repeats itself.
Superb return! But what about clearing out others with no future? Gus and McCabe for slightly more than a bag of pucks?
Picked up a 1st and 5th for 24, a 1st for 23 and 2nd possibly 1st this year. Probably be tough to get many more picks for next years draft. Opportunities to pick up more picks for 24 draft should come in next couple of years, have a big draft then and begin the way back up from the abyss at that point after likely hoping for lotto picks for 3 drafts if all goes well.
Delia backup tp Lankinen the rest of the way and Soderblom starting bulk in Rfd., playoff push. Delia be eligible to rejoin tjem for playoffs to as he was recalled after roster deadline. Probably T. Johnson off ir will replace Carpenter and what roster is now likely plays most of the games. With injury recalls only likely.
Disappointed CDH didn’t get moved not that the return would have been awesome but because they’ll likely keep playing him and not a youngster from here to season end
Mrazek has cleared waivers – too late
Rather give Soda or Delia some starts anyway
I think they’ll have better veteran options than Mrazek in the summer
Strome and Kub are RFA not UFA so it was always a little unlikely they’d go at TDL – Hawks unlikely to get appropriate value and whatever team traded for them would have to qualify them or let them walk
Maybe in the summer that happens or maybe not at all – we’ll see
Happy with KD’s work – now let’s hire a good scouting department and a good coaching staff
Still way to much dead weight on this team. Got to get rid of it somehow. King needs to tell the entire team if you don’t give your all don’t expect to play. Dach, Kubilik, Kurashev and anyone else no more half assing allowed. Everyone is playing for a job!
I am not fussed about de Haan as he is a UFA at the end of the year and would have only fetched a late round pick…unfortunately we have to watch McCabe try to play defence for another three years at $4mm per yr
Hoping they let Caleb Jones walk as well as he isn’t very good either
Going to be a long 5 years before we even sniff the playoffs
Whom ever mentioned Copp not being very good NYR didn’t think so. Winnipeg fetched a prospect, moved up a round, got 2 2nd round picks that one could become a 1st and the other could be what ever year they want it to be of 22 or 23. That’s another hual!
Carpenter a perfect fit for a Darryl Sutter team.
Best to ya. Thanks for your hustle and heart.
SS he Carpenter will fit in nicely there.
Seems like the idea is to have that group in Rfd. make a push for the playoffs and experience whatever their playoff run is to help them grow together and develop, vs limited minutes with Blackhawks. That may be good thing in the long run, time will tell. Still have some trade chips for draft/off season time. Maybe a better market then when teams trying to reset rosters for next year for some. CDH and Gus will walk i imagine, but not alot lost on return there. Gus a good pressbox guy, not a spot for youngster.
Never expected anything for Gus. Hoped CDH would move and a 3rd or 4th in return. Hoping KD didn’t overprice himself out with de Haan, but we likely will never know. Kubalik being RFA was gonna be tough move.
I have no problem letting Rockford play out the season. We rushed Dach no doubt. Boqvist too. Gotta stop that crap and give these kids – and that is what they are kids – a chance to mature physically as well as into adults before we get them up here. Cap he’ll caused some bad situations with needing cheap help in the NHL team. That should be done now.
Really didn’t like wasting Lankinen this year. Could have gotten the kid goalie in Detroit from Carolina last year or Wedgewood and passed on those. Yes, we have some goalie potential in the stream, but to develop guys ready now for NHL action was an opportunity lost this year. Probably the biggest sin for me.
We will have some Hawks to cheer for in the playoffs after all .
Silent Spot: I’ll second that one for Carpenter.
Sad to see him go. One of my favorite pros. Loved his energy and grit. @Silent – you’re right, he is a great fit for a Darryl Sutter team. I wish him the best! I’ll be watching.
Now that’s gonna really help.
Now that it’s over…we have to bring up Reichel, Mitchell, Regula, and Slavin. Fk the AHL playoffs. We need these guys up here to get acclimated to the league and to let them know that we expect them to be a big part of the big club next year. None of this 4th line BS either.
4th line – Lafferty-Johnson-Kubalik (Press Box – Kurashev-Borgstrom-Dach)
3rd line – Reichel-Entwhistle-Slavin
2nd line – Toews-Katschouk-Raddysh
1st line – Strome-DCat-Kane
1st D – Jones and Jones
2nd D – Vlasic and Regula
3rd D – Stillman and Mitchell
(Press Box – McCabe, DeHaan, Gustafson)
Tommy Blackhawks allowed 4 callups after tdl, Delia, R. Johnson and Vlassic paper move down and up to be eligible for Rfd. playoff roster likely are 3 of them used already. So bringing up a crew from Ahl roster not going to happen unless a slew if injuries and emergency callup. KD made comment about maybe Reichel getting a few games, so that probably be used as their 4th callup.
Not a bad idea Coach but I would like Reichel and Slavin more filled out. Let them finish out the year in RFD. Put on muscle for next year.
Would tweak your lines a bit. See if Raddysh Strome and DCat can recreate their magic. If they do there’s our scoring line for a few years with their ages all similar.
Put Toews and Kane together to recreate their magic. Would put Kubalik in there because Kane makes everyone better. Kubalik goes on a run of goals it becomes two folds.
1) He picks up 10 -15 goals someone might like him and we could use him for draft trade material.
2) (and I think will happen)The three of them click. Sign him to a one year rfa requirement. Next TDL now we get a good hauls for him and Toews. Would want to keep Kaner but if we get a massive over pay we must trade. Gretzky, the best Canadian player got traded. Kane, the best American player can be too.
Put Dach on a wing. Maybe have Entwistle and Katschouk with him. All big bodies and see if any sandpaper rubs off on him. He will be the offensive piece on that line so he still has that in his head but might see how the other two work hard and does the same. 20 more pounds of muscle should make Dach above average.
Lafferty Borgstrom and Kurashev will give a a 4th line that no other fourth line could catch up to. Thus predicting a way above amount of scoring from any fourth line in the league. An even out of scoring from each. Thus at next TDL nice returns for each from teams looking for that plug in player. Probably 2nd to 3rd round picks.
I like your D lines. Would mix up the bottom 4 separating the two big bodies. Would use Beaudin and Kalynuk with the big bodies also. We can still retain $$ for draft trades of McCabe 1st Murphy 2nd. Our problem if we have them is we must showcase them for next year TDL.
Out of the ashes a Phoenix will arise…….or we can look like a Phoenix er Arizona.
Good luck to Hagel, MAF and Carpy. Thanks for keeping it interesting. Funny how the league was interested in the Hawk players that play hard every night. Hope that is a lesson learned for KD and the new organization.
Agree with you HHNL. We wanted to see more players moved but you can’t move players no one wants.
So the Stan Bowman sewage clean-up begins.
And to think, some on this blog actually backed that guy and his decisions.
He showed his true mettle by sniveling out the door, pointing fingers at everyone, but the man in the mirror. The old man must be embarrassed as hell.
New GM has huge task, but has taken some good steps.
But still a lot of swamp draining to do.
He will need an NHL caliber coach, once he finds out exactly what he has at the beginning of next year.
Current guy is a little better than a .500 coach at the NHL level.
Overall I am satisfied with the deadline deals, disappointed the Hawks couldn’t move more folks, but how much better would the Hawks be with a couple of fifth round picks for DeHaan and Kubalik?
Not sure what I hope the Hawks do with Strome next season. Part of me wants him back so at least one line can be functional. Another part of me wants the Hawks to be epically bad next year to increase chances of a 2023 lottery pick.
The big question for me is what happens with Toews and Kane after next season? Do they want to finish their careers on a tanking/rebuilding team? Do they want to chase another Cup on a new team? Does Kane want to finish as the all time greatest Blackhawk and catch Makita? Do the Hawks want Kane, with the his storied history to supplant Makita as the greatest Blackhawk? Lot’s of conflicting agendas going on that could potentially affect the direction that is taken.
To be honest, having Kane finish his career can help the Hawks, having the story of trying to chase a Legend could help get fans through the rebuild. Depending on where Kane finishes this season, he should be less than 300 points behind Makita give or take. At a point per game average Kane would need a little less than four years to accomplish it…
The narrative of Kane being elder statesman mentoring the next generation of Hawks while he tries to chase a legend is something I can hang my hat on as a fan. Would Kane rather chase # four with a new club or lead his team back to glory, even if he isn’t there to taste it?
It’s going to be an interesting first off season for Davidson…
Perimeter the purge allows for a few of years cost control also, which no doubt is playing a big part in this. End result will be a pretty good product on the ice, how much success they have, can only hope it’s alot, time will tell i guess.
Amen to the most pure nhl market, the teams that think they might CUP this year
They desperately and strategically reach for the best teammate additions they can get.
What do they almost always trade for at the TDL bell?
PLAYERS THAT BRING IT ALL EVERY NIGHT YEAR IN YEAR OUT NO MATTER THEIR ABILIY
Adios Hagel and Flower & Carpy!!!
Hope others noticed.
Moro, I want what’s better for team long term and to me that’s trade 88 19 on contract yrs and have the, come back for free in the summer for less yrs at a time then do it again. Two for one well four for two.
Do it do it do it do it.
