Bryan Bickell: Still Here

Bryan Bickell cleared waivers on Saturday, and will stay with the Blackhawks.

Bickell said he views waivers as a “wake-up call.” He was on the third line during the morning skate on Saturday.

One player linked to Bickell in recent trade rumors, Edmonton’s Nikita Nikitin, was placed on waivers on Saturday.

Here are the lines from the morning skate ahead of the preseason finale vs. Dallas:

Shaw-Toews-Hossa
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Bickell-Teravainen-Garbutt
Desjardins-Kruger-Baun

Confused…they waived him but he’s back with her Hawks tonight? Not going to Rockford?

^ Mox17 – I’m not sure but it could be a smart move on Stan’s part here.
The way I see it: Bickell has been given a wake up call and will be trying to prove his worth and show that he deserves to be up with the Hawks and not down In the AHL with the Hogs. It could be that another club wants to get a look to see if he looks to be injured.
I believe BB can be sent back to the Rock quite easily.
“When a player clears waivers and is sent down and then is called up again, he does not have to clear waivers to be sent down again unless he has played ten games or has been “up” for 30 days.”
It’s time for Bryan Bickell to wake up and smell the coffee!

Okay now im really confused, what was the point of waving him and then bringing him him?

A wake up call? Im not buying that!

Point of waiving him was the hope that someone would pick him up. Since no one has, if the hawks want to send him down at a later date they may not have to send him through waivers again. Their is a certain number of games played and days on the roster before a player that’s been subjected to waivers once has to be put on again. The waiver process has changed.

Also, perhaps other teams out there the Hawks haven’t talked to could work something out.

Are we under the cap or do we need to trim some salary before the first game?

Where the hell is HOF when I need him……….???????

Not sure if it’s as good/same as capgeek but hockeyscap.com has the basic info. Might need to edit it yourself but it works.

Generalfanager and capfriendly both say the Hawks are over by 189k. They have 13 forwards listed and 8 defenseman. Svedberg and Rozsival combine for 1.1. Send svedberg down and ltir Rozsival and the Hawks are compliant by 1 million

To LTIR Rozsival the Hawks have to be under. So opening night they send Svedberg down. Then place Rozsival on LTIR. Then they can recall that extra defenseman after Rozsival returns from LTIR. I’d be shocked if Rozsival isn’t on LTIR to start the year.

You have to waive the guy as a wake up call? If he hasn’t got the message by now, trade him, or bury him in Rockford.

Only save 950k by burying him. Hawks would still have 3.05 as a retained hit.

This new Hawks line up seems to “play” much faster and physical. Even those sent “back to AHL” really adjusted to the system, skated hard, crashed the net, got off good shots in lanes I was impressed. SOOOO Bick with this “depth” is really expendable, not to mention his contract but all I CARE ABOUT IS ON ICE and he has not been consistent.

I would like to seem him on the 4th line with Kruger.

Shaw wont last long on the 1st line, but it is a nice reward for his effort and consistency. Shaw will pick up too many “penalties” on that line but it might be worth a try. He is due for a Break Out season.

Panarin is going to have a all star year . . . kid can fly!

Run-Bad still makes way tooo may mistakes on defense and that is not including the times he has the puck or defends, just “bad” un-forced turnover. But his Offense might keep him on the ic.

I think Bick is “toast” built for physical play and that is hard to brig every night.

My suggestion: Move Bickell to LW with 19-81 and tell them to throw as many pucks at him as possible hoping he can score a bunch of goals in the first ten games ala Darryl Sutter style. Other teams will think he’s the stud he is supposed to be and voila! we get him traded!!
Who knew Wall’s nickname for 29 would be so on target…. handcuffs.. perfect!

LTIR Rozsival? When he’s not hurt?

When is the last game Rozsival played?

If he was ready and able to play he would have played Saturday. He didn’t. So I think it’s fair to say he’s still rehabbing. So putting him on LTIR at least to start the year doesn’t seem illogical. Putting Bickell on LTIR is more illogical than Rozsival.
