This is a horrible ruling from the NHL. Nothing done to Sedin? CRAP!

  • March 23, 2012 at 5:25 pm

Doan, repeat offender = 3 games
    Keith, 1st time offender = 5 games

  • March 23, 2012 at 5:34 pm

So Danielle has a concussion cause Henrietta says so huh? Yeah right I will believe it when I see it reported by someone else.

As Shanny he clearly had a chance to throat the plonkers of the Red Wings brass and jumped errrr uhhh knelt at the chance. The Wings bias is showing thru. Oh yeah and nothing for Danielle huh? His hit a few mins earlier wasn’t the exact same thing?

  • March 23, 2012 at 5:38 pm

Duncan Keith defends himself when the NHL officials fail to officiate the rules equally. Then Shanahan suspends Norris Trophy winner Keith, a first time offender who normally plays a clean style while they look the other way at the head shot by the Twinkie TWIN faggot that started the altercation. While the NHL is trying to develop a fan following by emphesizing fast paced skilled HOCKEY, the Vancouver Vaginas are regressing into cheap shot diving pussies. Raffi Torres, Alexandre Burroughs, the Sedin cunts and Todd Bertucci get slappped on the wrist for continued attempts to deliberately injure opponents. IF Bill Wirtz were still alive, this wouldn’t be happening.

  • March 23, 2012 at 5:40 pm

3 games ok,5 games?Vancouver will rest Sedin a similar length of time to save face! Its’ all part of the process in Vancouver!Bitch and whine your way to the top,who the hell cares about integrity! They never take the admirable route anywhere, the classless lot of them.

  • March 23, 2012 at 5:42 pm

    FUCK THEM!!!

  • March 23, 2012 at 5:48 pm

It looks like the whiners in Vancouver had an impact on the severity of this suspension. If you believe in Karma, it would be funny if this helps push the Hawks to 7th in the conference and a first round series with the Vancouver Pussies. It would be great to see the Hawks (with a rested Keith and Toews) pound the Canucks. The whining from the Canucks and the rioting from their fans would be great to see! Also, now that the suspension is announced I suspect Daniella will be back.

  • March 23, 2012 at 5:58 pm

Can you change “you are idiots” name to just plain “Idiot” – Sedin prolly smashed his head on a locker when they lost and cried to his mommie and the press.

  • March 23, 2012 at 6:03 pm

^ “I’m from Vancouver – I have so much free time on my hands that I’m going to search the internet for Blackhawks blogs and voice my opinion that noones gives a shit about.” I bet Henrik’s vagina smells good from your view. I think Hawks fans can live with a 5 game suspension on Keith. I would never justify head hunting, but clearly Vancouver got a little taste of its own medicine on that one. Sucks to suck. RESPECT THE FEATHER.

  • March 23, 2012 at 6:16 pm

Looks like Martin Brody is calling himself ” you are idiots”, and claiming to be a Hawks fan!

  • March 23, 2012 at 6:21 pm

This is at least the 2nd Hawk to face a long suspension from dirty play this season …

Have fun in your 1st round exit (AGAIN) losers!

  • March 23, 2012 at 6:25 pm

Our ya, go back to ignoring your team like you did from 1975-2009.

Bandwagoners – Hey maybe Jordan will come out of retirement so you have something to watch.

  • March 23, 2012 at 6:31 pm

I think Duncs got what he deserved with 5 games. I thought it would be 3-5. He lost his cool and drilled Daniel big time for taking a run at him. Daniel Sedin is a guy who has NEVER taken a run at a guy in his life. Did Daniel think that he would just walk away from that head shot to Keith without some pay back? Sure Duncs should have picked his spot better. He clearly had payback in mind, and why not? It was rough hockey justice, with the message firmly sent. It would be the same thing if Kaner were to run one of the Nuck d men. He would get killed for being that stupid. It isn’t his game, just as it isn’t/wasn’t Daniels. If the Sedins want to start playing the tough guy game they better be ready to get some back. Why would Keith have expected to think either of the Sedin sisters would run him? Never happened before. Let’s see how many games Daniel does not play. If Daniel had been that shook up from the Keith hit, he would have been taken straight to the dressing room and not returned. I say Daniel is back pretty soon, but we will see.

In the meantime we need the captain back. Anyone want to speculate when he was concussed? I say it was a Joe Thorton punch to the back of the head last month that did the damage, or else some other time during that game when the Sharks agenda was to drill Johnny from the get go. Where was the NHL after that BS?

  • March 23, 2012 at 6:36 pm

If Derek Engelland got 3 games as a first time offender for his hit on Marcus Kruger in December, Chicago fans have a legitimate argument that 5 was too many.

  • March 23, 2012 at 6:39 pm

Just imagine what you losers would be saying if Burrows or Kessler did this to Keith?

You guys are the worst fans in hockey (know nothing bandwagoners waiting for the next new thing)

  • March 23, 2012 at 6:51 pm

    Hey Brendan,

Yep we ignored them for all those years. Savard, Secord Larmer, the 92 CUP run. Yep that’s it. Even with the dark years, we still have more Cups than you, won one since the inception of your pathetic little franchise and we don’t have a douchebag for a coach. And it would take the two of them to do that to anyone b/c, like you they are too big of pussies to do it by themselves.

Worst fan in hockey – pot meet kettle. Do you need some matches?????

  • March 23, 2012 at 6:58 pm

The worst fans in hockey are those that destroyed their own city after losing. Nicely done. How can it get any worse? Turning away attention from a poorly run franchine vs. widespread violence. Nice try Brendan…

  • March 23, 2012 at 7:31 pm

Mike, no class at all. Neither Sedin is a diver and the hit was dirty. keith is a great player who made a mistake. Listen to the whining coming from yourself. Have you ever played the game………..to all the mature fans, hope to see you in round 3 for a great playoff series, your chances just got better with the rest for your great defenceman.

  • March 23, 2012 at 7:44 pm

Like I said, have fun in the 1st round exit fucking cheap shot goons!

All your cups? When there was 6 teams??? What a joke. Your franchise is a laughing stock around people who actually know hockey. I bet 99% of the losers on this shitty blog can’t even skate.

Maybe MJ can come out of retirement!
PS – Last year you needed another team to lose to get in.

  • March 23, 2012 at 7:47 pm

    Widespread violence.?

It was a few hundred drunk idiots that broke a few windows in a 3 block area.

But I guess you being American are all “amber alert” , “Defcon 3”, “threat level orange “and believe what you see on CNN. I live 2 blocks from the “riot zone” and I didn’t even know it was happening until I turned on the TV.

  • March 23, 2012 at 7:48 pm

Really Hockey fan? Yep the hit was suspendable so is Daniels and Burrows knee. We know they didn’t happen. Follow the link for the dive…..

Keep wearing the rose colored glasses and drinking the our guys do no wrong bullshit. You obviously never played beacuse you had to bring it up. Take you maurity shove it straight up your ass and go somewhere else

  • March 23, 2012 at 7:51 pm

Hey Brendan, who remembers who won the Presidents Trophy – no one. YOu were up 3 zip and won it in Game 7 OT. And like, you your goalie choked on a big one….

42 Years Zero Cups. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Hey does, your mom know you are on her computer?

  • March 23, 2012 at 7:56 pm

Keith’s hit was dirty…. and based upon the rules he deserves the suspension. I think the 5-games vs. 3-games is really the issue.

Additionally, since Chicago is suffering with the loss of their top player due to a concussion, I think we can all agree that hard plays are fine, but if you give out an illegal hit, take responsibility for it. That’s all.

Why 5-games… I haven’t heard of any explanation for this I think the league should have stated why it was more than the usual….

Again, play hard but play within the rules.

  • March 23, 2012 at 8:11 pm

The Canucks as a team can eat a fat sack of dicks for all I care, but Keith was lucks he only got 5 for that. I was thinking at least 7. Yeah, Sedin got a cheap hit on him. I think he went in for the shoulder to the head when the ref wasn’t looking. Happens every game. Got him in the head so he should have a game or a fine and be a repeat offender. Keith is a moron for not picking a better spot to get him back. Elbowing him in the head is never ok. Someone can get really hurt that way. If the roles were reversed, we’d probably be whining half as much as the Canuck fans about regular season & playoffs. I’m pretty sure a lot of guys on here don’t agree with me so let me try to bring everyone together with this – Keith coulda got more games, Sedin should get a game, and Burrows shoulda been a blowjob

  • March 23, 2012 at 8:33 pm

I was at the game and this was deserved. Keith intended to hurt Sedin, now I wouldnt mind it if Keith took Sedins head off. However Keith as a captain should have discipline and let enforcer take care of Sedin. Crap like this needs to be eliminated from the game in my opinion the penalties should be tougher

  • March 23, 2012 at 8:46 pm

The Sedins are never on the ice when tough guys are out there. Actually neither are Burrows or Kessler or Bieksa…

  • March 23, 2012 at 8:50 pm

follow this link to my hockey resume:

Keith deserved to be suspended. Anyone can see that, but 5 games is too many. Now everyone quit with the tough guy talk, homophobic slurs, and talk of how you and your cousin were one of the 5,000 people at the UC 8 years ago.

  • March 23, 2012 at 8:56 pm

What you weren’t at the UC 8 years ago? Why not?

  • March 23, 2012 at 9:27 pm

I tnink Vancouver fans should be careful what they wish for. Quennville said a week ago that he wanted to push for a home ice spot (see the 4 seed). This suspension probably keeps us 6th maybe 7th. Means there will probably be a first or second matchup. See ya down the road.

Oops one more thing. If Vancouver fans can’t see that they have a team full of cheap dirty bastards, don’t know what to say to them.

  • March 23, 2012 at 9:29 pm

Vancouver is one of the most penalized teams in the League right? Something like 40 plus more than the Hawks? Hmmmmmm

  • March 23, 2012 at 9:31 pm

Hey Brendan…do all Canucks fans speak with such “class” and ignorance? Not that much more was expected. Nice representation of Vancouver and Canucks fans everywhere! Explains alot!!

  • March 23, 2012 at 9:35 pm

Vancouver fans think their team does no wrong and that Keith should have got 10+

  • March 23, 2012 at 10:04 pm

Alright Hawks fans, before you get your panties in a twist…think about it…

Daniel Sedin, the Canucks # 1 player is out, likely with a concussion, possibly for the ENTIRE PLAYOFFS.

Duncan Keith, not even your top player, gets a nice rest to build up some energy and will be back fit as a fiddle ready for the playoffs.

Which team, HONESTLY, comes out easier in all of this?? This really isn’t fair, no matter how you spin this as unfair to the Hawks.

  • March 23, 2012 at 10:21 pm

So Alan, Toews has been out for weeks. So was Crosby with the Pens. No team or player suffered any consequences for the Toews injury. Take your medicine and move on. The Hawks have played well without the heart and soul of their team. Is Daniel Sedin the heart and soul of the Canucks? If so they will never win when it counts! Even the Nuck fans know this….

  • March 23, 2012 at 10:32 pm

Brendan – your trolling is obvious. Thanks for the laugh.

I hope the Sedins and the rest of Vancouver enjoy their butthurt. Let’s see how long it takes you to get kicked out of the playoffs again. I hope it’s by the Hawks and I hope we smash your team against the rocks again.

  • March 23, 2012 at 10:32 pm

Wow there are some really stupid people on this forum who know nothing about hockey.

What you bandwagoners are forgetting is this wasn’t a “hockey hit” or an accidental contact. This was deliberate intent to injure away from the play. Simply, it could not be any worse if Keith hit him over the head with his stick.

So save the bullshit about Toews or how the Canucks are pussies. Focus on the facts, this should have been 10 games.

I truly hope the Canucks and the Hawks meet in the playoffs cause it will be a repeat of last season. That said, there’s a 50% chance you guys don’t even make the playoffs.

  • March 23, 2012 at 10:37 pm

Brendan: stop while you aren’t too far behind. You’re a troll & a fool. 50% chance the Hawks don’t make the playoffs? Go upstairs and ask mommy to do your math…

  • March 23, 2012 at 11:03 pm

No other team comments on pending suspensions, yet the league bows to the Canucks whining. Who else in the league after an incident puts a time frame on the time missed? The pens didn’t say Sid would be out 3-6 weeks/months. Whats up with that shit- Canucks. The whole reason they needed the headshot rule is because of the Canucks way of cheap hits, chicken shit hockey. Shanaban you have taken a whole year of decent decisions(based on first time or past offenders) and thrown it away. No first time offender got more than 3 now this. I guess the sisters carry some weight. The canucks GM is the leader of the pack – a former agent who is great at complaining….Hope your player is pay back for those you have left in the rearview mirror.
I thought the league office was better than this……only confuses the issue in the future.

  • March 23, 2012 at 11:07 pm

Brendan, despite the fact your Daniels lover, stop your stupidiy. Go back in your shell and come back after the Canucks fail again in the 43rd straight post season.

  • March 23, 2012 at 11:15 pm

I am not a troll at all. I am simply lending my free services to teach you apes about hockey. As I said, I bet 99% of you have never even skated little lone played hockey.

Lesson 1 – As when a penalty is called on the opposing team while the Hawks have possession of the puck and Crawford starts skating to the bench he does not think the period is over. Stop yelling for him to go back to his net.

More lessons to come during the playoff’s.

  • March 23, 2012 at 11:16 pm

Keith doesn’t need to use a stick to “concuss”, he doesn’t play for the Canucks.

I bet there is a better than 50% chance you don’t win the cup again.

He can’t stop his stupidity, when you can’t go it in your city after dark, what else are you going to do…????

  • March 23, 2012 at 11:21 pm

Brendan, you’re ignorance in saying that every single Blackhawks fan is a bandwagoner is similar to someone saying that every single Canucks fan rioted after the Canucks lost. The Hawks are currently 1 point out of home ice advantage during the first round, and have a 6 point lead on the 7th place team. Yeah they did need another team to lose for us to make the playoffs, but your team let us force OT in game 7 after being up 3 games to none. You are telling other people to learn about hockey when you don’t even know anything. Yes, the Hawks are a team filled with cheap shot artists, that Toews, Sharp, Hossa, Kane and Seabrook are just so dirty huh? The only player you can argue is dirty is Carcillo. One bad hit does not make Keith a dirty player. Get your facts straight before you try to talk crap

  • March 23, 2012 at 11:54 pm

What I don’t like about the whole thing is that Sedin lunged at Keith’s head when Keith wasn’t looking and could have seriously injured Keith. Apparently the league doesn’t care because Keith wasn’t hurt. I think that is the wrong message. If Keith’s suspension is 5 games so be it, but Sedin should have received some sort of punishment from the league.

  • March 24, 2012 at 12:03 am

For reference; Carcillo (the definition of repeat offender, being fined or suspended 10 times now) got 7 games for his blatant cheap-shot on Gilbert back in January. When I look at the hit, I said 5 games is what I would want if it were any other team besides Chicago; when I look at the suspensions handed out to repeat offenders for similar hits this year, I have to think 5 is on the upper limits of what should have been given out, at least comparatively. Oh well, the ‘hawks will still make the playoffs and Keith will get some rest. Just makes getting home ice extremely difficult now.

  • March 24, 2012 at 12:20 am

Just because someone have never played hockey doesn’t invalidate their opinion.

Also, there are a few things which drive me insane:

    1. People who bash an individual or a group without the guts to put their name behind it. I have no patience for people who use a monicker like “You are idiots” to attack someone else’s opinion. You don’t agree with it, fine, you’ve got every right to differentiate. But A) Attacking someone on the internet, shielded from putting a face behind your words, is petulance and B) Lacking the fortitude to put your name behind it is just pure cowardice. You don’t need to be right to have an opinion. It’s alright to be wrong (and admit you are wrong). But not having the integrity to stick by your words with something as simple as a name while disrespecting an idea, a person, or a forum of people is far below classless.

    2. For anyone to personally condemn a public persona (in this case Tab) on the webpage they administer is so far beyond nonsensical I can’t find the words to express my disgust. Either you follow the website on a consistent basis and have nothing to do but hate on someone or you are reading this in passing and have no grounds to stand on. Either you disagree with their opinion so vehemently it drives you to a state of vitriol or you’re just a hater. I don’t always agree with Tab, but he understands the game of hockey as well as anyone I’ve ever met. He’s been wrong, he’s been reactionary, who hasn’t? But when he opens his mouth or makes a post he’s almost always got grounds to stand on.

If you loath him, myself, Blackhawk fans, or this forum that much, go do anything else.

  • March 24, 2012 at 2:20 am

Sedins= 2 Girls No Cup part 3 coming this Spring
Keith gets rested,Toews comes back healthy
when did all these none Hawks fans start coming around?
Everyone accusing everyone of being a bandwagon fan
The ORIGINAL fans are all dead anyway or close to it.SO WERE ALL NEW FANS

  • March 24, 2012 at 3:16 am

Hey Brendan, or should I say Brenda?

It’s real brave of you to site in front of a computer and spew your ignorant bile.

How about coming to Chicago; we’ll arrange a time and place to meet. Let’s see how brave you are to say these things face-to-face to us.

  • March 24, 2012 at 7:34 am

    Vancouver fan – enuff said

  • March 24, 2012 at 7:54 am

Duncs deserved a suspension; he must have really been po’ed about the hit he took earlier along the glass and this was just an overt reaction; I’m going to surmise that as soon as he did it and heard the whistle he sensed it was out of bounds. Whether 5 games was warranted or not can be debated as it obviously is up and down the blog.

Let’s just hope at least several things come of this:
    1. the team rallies thru the 5 games and covers his absence as well as possible; it will be interesting to see what Q has on the ice for his 3 pairs of d-men
    2. he gets great rest and comes back like gang-busters ready for postseason

Speaking of the earlier hit Duncs received, too bad there’s apparently no league level review of that just like the league apparently never looked at scumbag Joe Thornton elbowing Johnny a few weeks ago. One wonders why; maybe we need to learn how to take dives like Ribeiro did some time ago to embellish things a bit.

Can I just say this too please to my fellow Hawks fans; as much as we faithfully and often ‘blindly’ follow and support the Indian Head, let’s try and keep ourselves above the fray. Let the other side work the gutters.

  • March 24, 2012 at 8:30 am

    Mark L says: March 23, 2012 at 5:25 pm
    Doan, repeat offender = 3 game & Keith, 1st time offender = 5 games

Totally agree and THIS is all that needs to be said. Keith’s hit was RECKLESS but to give him 5 games while other repeat offenders get only 3 seems a bit overblown. I wonder if there is an appeals process in place where the team can get it knocked down to 3 games. I’m also a little put-off by the face that Shanahan is in charge of this. It should be someone who isn’t so tied to the game itself. Hockey is a strong fraternity and though they may not say it, players hold alliances pretty strongly though they have retired.

  • March 24, 2012 at 9:11 am

Good point Chris, last year I was at game 6 v the Canucks. There were a lot of Vancouver fans there, and looked scared outta their fucking minds. They only have the balls to fuck up shot in THEIR OWN CITY (when they lost)

  • March 24, 2012 at 1:32 pm

Brendan, Vancouver are the biggest bandwagon fans. 90% couldn’t name 5 players that played for the Canucks even 10 years ago without going to google. Canucks fans believe the team started when they drafted the Sedins. Do you even remember when you had jerseys that looked like a roller derby team and you were the laughing stock of the league. What a moron. Go back to your basement and complain about the HST some more.

  • March 24, 2012 at 2:48 pm

I don’t care what anybody says, its clear that Sedin targeted Keith’s head when Keith was looking the other way. So because Keith doesn’t get hurt the league is fine with that? Keith should have been suspended and I’m fine with that part of it, but the issue is why wasn’t Sedin suspended as well. I realize he is hurt and he’s out anyway, but its the principle that needs to be upheld here. Sedin should have received a suspension to stop the initial headhunting and Keith as well for the obvious retaliation.

  • March 24, 2012 at 2:51 pm

So if the league was serious about stopping head injuries they would look at the initial illegal hit(regardless of injury) and at the retaliation. Not just the retaliation.

  • March 24, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Just go on the T.S.N. site and read the crap written from the nuck fans!It is sickening, but I agree with Zebra,we hawk fans should stay out of their gutter.

  • March 24, 2012 at 10:12 pm

Again, lots of venom spewing about Dunc’s elbow on Danyelle Sedin, but let’s look at the facts:
    1. Dunc’s clearly lead with his elbow.
    2. His elbow clearly made Danyelle’s head the principle contact point.
    3. He received a MINOR penalty on the play.
    4. At the moment of the penalty, Danyelle was NOT injured.
    5. The league does not care about any previous play that may have lead up to this elbow.
    6. Dunc’s is a clean player who has no previous suspension history.

Okay, Dunc’s got 5 games. He probably should have gotten only 3, but you can’t fight the league. We have to deal with a 5 game suspension. You live and learn.

I hate to disappoint a men’s league hockey player, like Brendon, but the Vancouver Canucks won’t win the cup, this year…….or next year. They have a very bad reputation around the league as a very “whiney” team, from the G.M. to the equipment manager. This isn’t my opinion, this is fact from 3 of the NHL’s premier linesmen. You see it every game that they play, they never get the benefit of the doubt on any call. The reason is their reputation, period. You saw it last year in the playoffs.

It’s an awful thing that happened with the riots, too. We, as Blackhawk fans, cannot condemn the entire city of Vancouver for the actions of a few. That’s like saying that Brendan has no idea what he’s talking about when it comes to hockey. But the truth is
that he is clearly at least a “C” league player and his comments reflect that.

But this blog is not about bashing cities, teams, players, or people. This blog is about hockey, and the other night we beat the Vancouver Canuckleheads and looked pretty good doing it……without our best player.

  • March 24, 2012 at 10:17 pm

@Tom – you’re right. It’s also worth noting that at no time have I defended Keith’s hit.
