Flames May Be Without Curtis Glencross vs. Blackhawks on Sunday

The NHL will have a disciplinary hearing with Calgary Flames forward Curtis Glencross on Friday morning to discuss this head-high hit he had on Vancouver’s Keith Ballard in the third period of the Canucks’ 7-2 victory on Wednesday night:

Glencross received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct on the play, but this is not the first offense for him. In November of 2009, Glencross was suspended three games for a hit against the New York Rangers on which he did not receive a penalty. This hit could cost Glencross somewhere around the same three game number he received last year.

In 24 games this season, Glencross has seven goals and four assists while averaging over 15 minutes per game.

I hate seeing guys get injured and headshot hits (unless they’re bareknuckle in a fight), but it sure looked like Glencross was just riding Ballard along the boards, lifted his stick, and didn’t bury him from behind face first into the glass – did I miss something?
