Four Blackhawks Prospects On USA Hockey Preliminary Roster For World Juniors
On Tuesday, USA Hockey announced the preliminary roster for the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championships. Four Chicago Blackhawks prospects made the list.
Forward Landon Slaggert, defensemen Wyatt Kaiser and Connor Kelley and goaltender Drew Commesso are among those vying for a roster spot.
The tournament this year is in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta, from Dec. 26, 2021 – Jan. 5, 2022.
Slaggert was a member of the Americans’ 2021 gold-medal team. He was the Hawks’ third-round pick (No. 79 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft and is currently playing at Notre Dame.
Kaiser was also selected in the third-round (No. 81 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft. Kelley was the Hawks’ seventh-round pick (No. 204 overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft. They are both currently skating for the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Commesso was the Blackhawks’ second-round pick (No. 46 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft and is at Boston University.
Slaggert is the guy to watch closely and will probably play in NHL in a Few years.
The other guys …maybe some guys here knows about them ?
Kaiser and Kelley have actually paired together some in UMD top 4 pairings this year, to me Kaiser looks for real, very good in defensive zone, moves puck out good, gets involved offensively but not carelessly, plays all situations. Kelley drafted as an overager seems a bit further away than Kaiser right now.
2010 agree Slaggart could be a keeper developing at Notre Dame.
Slaggert- I didn’t see much in couple of games watched last year- to be honest
plays right way… actually Slavin plays same way… but Slavin looks little quicker/bigger/ Higher IQ
Higher on Slavin than Slaggert
both are most likely fringe NHL/AHL guys- like a Highmore- plays hard/plays right… at end of day-meh
4 more players the Hawks will destroy and eventually trade….if any of them even get signed.
