Happy 25th Anniversary, Jeremy Roenick!

Happy Valentine’s Day, and happy anniversary to an all-time Blackhawks great!

It was 25 years ago today – Feb. 14, 1989 – that Jeremy Roenick scored his first NHL goal with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Roenick scored his first goal in Minnesota against the North Stars, and had a four-point night 24 hours later against at home against Washington. He scored nine times in 20 games during the 1988-89 season.

Before he was dealt out of Chicago, Roenick would score 267 goals in 524 games. In comparison, Patrick Kane has scored “only” 176 goals in 505 games before the Olympic break, and Patrick Sharp has scored “only” 217 in 589 games in a Blackhawks sweater.

JR, Phil Esposito, The Golden Jet, the Eagle, Chris Chelios should NEVER have been traded (er, GIVEN) away and should have retired in Indian Head sweaters. Shame on Wirtz’s daddy, Bob Pulford, and Tommy Irvin!

    Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

JR was my favorite player when i was growing up… along with 55,10, and 7.
While Zhamnov was an ok Hawk, I would have much rather had JR for the remainder of his career.

Dont know if anyone else care about trade-trees like i do… but fwiw, i think it interesting to see what trades “ulimately turn into”…

JR traded for Zhamnov, Craig Mills, and a First round pick (Ty Jones, Bust)
Zhamnov later traded for Jim Vandemeer, Colin Fraser, and a 2nd rounder (Bickell)
    Vandemeer traded for Ben Eager
Fraser traded for 6th round pick (Mikko Hoefflin, Bust)
Eager traded in Byfuglien deal (resulted in K. Hayes pick and Morin)

So in a way, the JR trade is still affecting the team… (Bicks, Morin, and K.Hayes)

Just a fun thought for the day!

Tim thanks for the positive note to all of this…and for me too, JR was my favourite Hawk after Tony-O…I still can’t believe he was traded…for that matter, Chelly…

So thankful things are different now…

    Love ya JR!!!
