Just a thought from this hockey fan. Sidney Crosby is an all world talent and has a skill set 2nd to none. At the end of the day Toews is a winner on every level and has shown that he belongs in the team photo as the face of the NHL. Multiple championships, Gold Medals and accolades have proved his worth on that top star level.
Very cool. I’m happy the picture has him looking fierce instead of one of those goofy or pignose pictures of him :)
“JT” is all class, … I like the way he goes about his business. Last year in the playoffs he took some fire for complaining about getting, “over the top” beaten on, and the refs swallowing the whistle. Anyone in that same situation would probably react the same. That said he is and forever will be the picture of “work hard, and get it done” for the Blackhawks.
22 Games left in the regular season, … let the games begin!!
I have no beef with this cause we are all Hawk fans and all Toews’ fans. But is this the cover in the United States as well as Canada?? If so, I think the US addition of SI should have a US gold medal winner, don’t cha think?
My hope is that Toews brings the excitement and effort he had in Sochi back to the team and city that pay him millions and for the kids who idolize him.
Canada was the best team in the tournament hands down and played a strong defensive system (reason for low scoring games)and played as a team. ebonyraptor no disrespect to team Sweden but they were not in the same class depth wise as Canada. Sweden losses Zetterberg,Sedin and Backstrom and fold like a tent (Kruger was their best player). Canada lost Tavares and Stamkos (best goal scorer in the NHL) and didn’t miss a beat as Canada could have sent two maybe three teams. Btw Sweden was lucky to get by Finland (who i thought was the better team) as Rask didn’t play that game because of illness. I guess not as dumb as Backstrom from taking medication.
^ ignorant of the facts behind backstrom taking that medication.
team doctor prescribed it. doctor couldn’t believe the reading of pseudo in backstrom’s body from a single allergy pill. backstrom would almost certainly have had a legal amount of pseudo in the bloodstream by gametime.
the whole thing was all kinds of dodgy. makes me sick that a committee of bureaucrats would take away the biggest hockey game in a young man’s life over a cold pill. disgraceful.
say what you will about bettman and the nhl, but that garbage doesn’t happen in our league.
and backstrom was nothing but classy about the whole thing, despite probably being absolutely demoralised.
Travis…so it’s the doctor’s fault now. I don’t necessarily agree with the IOC but they have to realize where they are. Regardless having Backstrom miss doesn’t change the fact that Sweden is not as deep as Canada and Finland would have put up a better fight.
Yea, Travis that was a garbage bag with dog shit in it.
