Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane Join Elite Company in History Books
When Jonathan Toews scored his 20th goal of the season on Saturday afternoon, the faces of the Blackhawks for the last decade joined incredible company.
Toews and Patrick Kane became the fourth teammates in NHL history to each score 20+ goals in 11 consecutive seasons – the league record for the achievement.
Toews and Kane are now tied with:
- Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita – Blackhawks
- Gordy Howe and Norm Ulman – Red Wings
- Yvan Cournoyer and Jacques Lemaire – Canadiens
Only three other Blackhawks have scored at least 20 goals in a season in as many as 11 consecutive seasons: Mikita (14), Hull (13) and Steve Larmer (11) – another reminder why the Blackhawks should retire 28.
We Hawk fans have been incredibly fortunate these last 11 seasons. We lament the state of the current team but all in all it’s these last 11 seasons have been as much or more than any of us could have hoped for.
Congrats Tazer and Kaner.

Making history ,we all know how good and how consistent both Toews and Kane are ,they will both be H.H.O.F. players ,proud to have them wearing the jersey .
Tazer looks ALOT better as of late. Again, sometimes a series of concussions can distort how you play and evaluate what happens on the ice. Let’s hope he continues to play strong this year, rest up in the summer and then come back to the old Tazer form that we are used to.
Kaner and tazer are STILL two exciting players and we should be proud to have them in Chicago.

Congrats boys! It’s hard not to be spoiled when Toews and Kane have set the bar so high!
I am old enough to clearly remember Mikita and Hull. So much fun to watch, including attending games at the old barn.
I think there has been too much criticism of Toews. Maybe he has been playing through concussions. Whatever it is, he gives more effort than many have given him credit for. If he can stay healthy, he has several very good years in him to help the Hawks return to a quality playoff team.
Having had a couple of significant concussions in ball and hockey, I feel for 19-he plays the game hard and his head is always in the right spot to get hit by elbow, stick glove near or behind the net. I feel (my opinion only) that too many have been hard on him and his 10 million + salary-as they don’t know what he has/is going through–
today’s players that have the money banked-I don’t blame them if they walked away to save their cognitive abilities and being with their families for the next 40/50 years. The days of press on for the team are coming to an end.

First of all well earned and congratulations.
in regards to team performance this year keep in mind the team has NO starting goalie due to injury and about half the team is first year/second year players.
I agree Noonan96. I think in a number of sports there will be more players stepping away early.
In the NHL, the salaries are good. Toews does make the $10M or so that people talk about. However, in “their world”, the world of elite professional athletes, that $10M is far less compensation accorded to those in pro baseball or basketball, maybe football too.
I hope that Toews keeps playing if he wants to and stays completely healthy. But I wouldn’t blame him or anyone else from stepping away.
We are very fortunate to have these two top notch players in our city and on our hockey team. It seems just like yesterday that Dale Tallon was bringing these two young bucks on board. My how time flys when your having fun.
They will be missed when the time comes to retire. But we know they’re headed for Toronto and the HHOF. But hopefully they might consider staying with the Blackhawks in some capacity which I’m sure that they will be offered something seeing as they are the face of the franchise. We love you guys!!!!!
