Kris Versteeg Will Be Missed

Coming off two straight 20-goal seasons to begin his NHL career, and a runner-up finish for the 2009 Calder Trophy, Kris Versteeg was emerging as a solid forward for the Chicago Blackhawks before being dealt late Wednesday night to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had 97 points in the last two seasons and had played an important role on the team’s penalty killing unit as well. It’s important to remember that it’s because of his $3M salary, not his skill, that Versteeg was dealt.

He will be missed.
