LA Kings Acquire Andrej Sekera

On Wednesday afternoon, the Los Angeles Kings reportedly acquired defenseman Andrej Sekera from the Carolina Hurricanes for a conditional first round pick and a defenseman Roland McKeown (according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie).

McKeown, 19, was the Kings second round pick in 2014. If the Kings make the playoffs, the first round pick is in 2015; if they don’t, Carolina gets the Kings’ first round selection in 2016.

Tab I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think Sekera was worth the price?

Ouch that’s a huge addition for the Kings that would have greatly helped the Hawks.

“….. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, “Bowman, good afternoon, wake up please, or are you sipping tea and reading the Wall Street Journal…”? Bowman’s trade will be re-acquiring Bollig for the draft pick they got for him from Calgary. (NOTE: Bollig is the 7th highest paid forward on Calgary thanks to Bowman, and a regular healthy scratch more often than not).

TSN is reporting the Blackhawks have just acquired James Van Reimsdyk from the Maple Leafs for Teravainen, Ryan Hartman and defenseman Stephen Johns.

He would have been nice, but that is a hell of an overpayment for a rental player.

If Bowman/s stand pat and do nothing given that LA just got a guy WE really could have used on defense, it says this organization is willing to write off the year. Not a good signal to the team or to the fans. Hawks can use some help with Oduya and Kane gone for awhile. Selling some of the Rockford kids I have no problem with. I hope they work something out with the Yotes for Vermette.

This deal for Sekera is pissing me off right now. Meanwhile…. (grumbling)

    Lets Go Hawks!

Calm down guys. That’s one hell of an overpayment. Let’s wait till after the deadline to grumble.

Kane out 12 weeks, clavicle surgery. Worse than we thought.

Um, without Patrick Kane are you trading one of the organization’s top 3 dman prospects and a #1 pick for a rental?

    Um, no.

My blockbuster trade scenario would be Vermette and Yandle. With the thinking you trade yandle at the draft. Would trade Shaw to get it done.

    @ Ernie

Im with you. Yandle is 5.3 and vermette is 3.75, so the Hawks would need to move a lot. Shaw and Kane’s LTIR isn’t going to be enough. It would be roster guys going back to Arizona. Tuevo & Shaw would probably get it done.

Ernie- I like getting Yandle and Vermette… as long as it’s prospects + 29…

then in the Summer Keep Yandle – and dump Crow’s paycheck!!!

I love the move- if only someone would take Crow this summer!!!

    Like Ernie said…
Tough to see him gone, but a 1st and a top prospect is too much, even for desperate SB…
Sucks to have to wait ans see what will (not) happen next…
