Michal Rozsival Named Masterton Nominee

Each year, the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey. Members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association in each city nominate a player from each team.

Rozsival infamously blew out his ankle during the Stanley Cup Playoffs last spring, but has come back to contribute to the Hawks this season.

Very deserving he has been a warrior for the Hawks and gives his all each and every game.

Love the picture, the only thing better would be a trophy with a figure in the same position lol

Blew out his ankle? It was pointing the other direction. The dude tried to get up while play was still going to help. How he’s still playing is beyond me.

    A worthy and deserved candidate.

Lot’s of posters here gave me shit when I defended the hawks giving him a try-out.

  • March 28, 2016 at 3:08 pm

Jax, he still old and slow. But he doesn’t suck as hard as others.

I would have preferred a guy like David Schlemko.

Being on the same team as you Rozy, is all the padding I need.

  • March 28, 2016 at 5:44 pm

Love to see Rosy hit 1000 games,.,.,he was real solid and a scorer in the mid 2000,s .
Top 3 in his day . Best wishes ,.,.don,t think we have had a masterson winner in a good long time ,have we?

A consummate professional. A long proud career. A definite asset to the Blackhawks despite his no-nothing critics among the fans.

  • March 28, 2016 at 7:47 pm

That would be “Know”, not “no”. That’s funny, ironic and tragic all at the same time.

From the way it is shaping up it looks like our path could well be St. Louis-Dallas-LA-Washington ….definitely going to need a youthful Rozy, quality officiating, lucky bounces, everyone on their super charged game, Crawford in his zone, fans desperately trying not to go to pieces.

Berard won it in 03/04 (because of Hossa). Then have to go back to Pit Martin the second year it was awarded.

  • March 28, 2016 at 8:16 pm

LA and Washington are the two teams to beat. Honestly I would far prefer to lose in the Western Conference Finals then losing in the Cup Finals. My head says Barry Trotz hoists his first cup in June. Capitals are wicked good and I can’t see anybody beating them in a 7 game series.

Rozsival has had an outstanding year. He is better on one leg sometimes than some younger players on two legs. Incidentally he is 36th in plus minus rating among active NHL players which isn’t too shabby.

Thanks for changing the topic Rufus.

    Btw, it’s Imogene Coca.

The Rangers will beat the Caps and win the East. Holtby is having a season and will win the Vezina but Hank will steal the series for the Rangers. Heard it here 1st!

Way off subject, but it looks like Nashville has a Kevin Hayes situation.

“They will not be getting help from the college ranks as top prospect Jimmy Vesey has declared his intention to test free agency this summer. Poile said Vesey was offered a top six role, playoff ice time and “a chance to burn a year of his entry level contract.”…there was strong talk that Vesey was promised a top-line left wing position, playing with Ryan Johansen”

  • March 29, 2016 at 9:28 am

Vesey situation has been speculated about for a while. His dad works for the leafs. Brother was drafted by the leafs. He’s also a Bruins fan.

As a Hawks fan, hes a left wing…and we need a left wing..

Rozy deserves it . . . seems he will play a major role in the playoffs. Great stay at home defender . . . stay healthy.

    go Rozy

I have no problem with his selection. This award goes beyond the stats and on ice contribution.

Some of the nominees are mind boggling. But names like Datsyuk, Jagr, Lecavalier as well as Rosy truely represent what hockey is about and what hockey should be…..

Hate to change the subject but I read on SI. Com today that Stephen Johns is back in the NHL for Dallas and making a big positive impact as a “heavy” defender. Arghhh. That will hurt and raises the subject again of whether Sharp could have been traded for a very low draft pick down the road as opposed to adding Johns to the trade to dump the salary. Oh well. I’m not complaining just saying what I read.

    Ok .. let’s move on.

Charges against Ross dropped. It would have been interesting if brain surgeons like Ernie on this blog, gave him the same “innocent until proven guilty” line that they gave “the star”. But unfortunately he doesn’t score enough goals!

  • March 29, 2016 at 6:08 pm

    Ok… let’s move on.

  • March 29, 2016 at 6:15 pm

I’m not getting the meaning behind the photo…not very flattering. Is it supposed to denote sacrifice? It’s been bugging me!

  • March 29, 2016 at 6:54 pm

Sigh. Wayne, the charges were dismissed. Why were they dismissed? The state of Illinois apparently didn’t have jurisdiction.

In the Kane case, charges were never filed. Never went to court.

Ross was arrested and charged. Went to court once. Was about to go a second time when it was dismissed. The police had more than a he said she said case. The police had evidence against Ross.

I’m not a brain surgeon. I’m a dumb welder. Like a doctor, I bury my mistakes.

  • March 29, 2016 at 7:08 pm

No you’re not a brain surgeon!

  • March 29, 2016 at 8:04 pm

Brokerwayne wants to start up on Patrick Kane again? Ernie I’ve got your back on this. Anyone notice how politically correct people like brokerwayne always want to take away other people’s constitutional rights whether its innocent until proven guilty, freedom of speech or freedom of association. Since you apparently still don’t get it Brokerwayne I will spell it out to you one last time. Everyone in this country is innocent until proven guilty. That includes people that score goals and unfortunately people like you.

  • March 29, 2016 at 9:28 pm

Appreciate it Pete. Wayne’s getting on my shit because I got on Ross’ shit yet defended Kane. As I’ve long stated I would have been the first in line to hang the superstar.

    Kane was never charged.

Ross was. Ross’ charges were dropped because of a jurisdiction issue. His evidence can’t be disputed. The date of the offense was august 31. Ross must not have been in Illinois. Indiana for instance does not have these laws.

Ross was arrested and charged in February. Probably shortly after the girl found these images online.

Kane was never arrested. Never charged. Why? No crime was committed.

MiningMan – About the photo, not only did Rosy break his ankle but appeared to have lost his melon too. To come back from that and play in the NHL deserves an award. Remember the photo of the guy with the chicken legs? Soderberg? He deserves one too.

  • March 30, 2016 at 9:15 pm

Yah, you are right….no head! Wow

  • April 4, 2016 at 5:46 pm

It’s practically difficult to locate properly-educated
men and women in this certain matter, however, you appear like you know what you are talking about!
