Mitchell, Beaudin Receive Hockey Canada Invites

Hockey Canada has invited Blackhawks blue line prospects Nicolas Beaudin and University of Denver rising sophomore Ian Mitchell to participate in the Sport Chek World Junior Showcase from July 28, 2018 – Aug. 4, 2018 in Kamloops, British Columbia.

Mitchell, 19, was the 57th overall selection the 2nd round of the 2017 NHL Draft by Chicago. Beaudin, who will turn 19 in October, was the 27th overall selection in the 1st round of this summer’s NHL Draft.

Beaudin and Mitchell are among 24 forwards, 12 defensemen and four goalies vying for a chance to represent Canada in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia. The tournament will be held Dec. 26, 2018 – Jan. 5, 2019.

    Boqvist will at wjc and Jokiharju if he doesn’t stick with the Blackhawks will be too.

    Also, I believe Jake Wise, Evan Barratt and Jack Ess have beein invited to the USA camp.

    BTW – wouldn’t it be cool is they both made the team and were partnered up. Visions of the future 2nd pairing for the Hawks – Beaudin-Mitchell.

    Also – Niklas Nordgren has a pretty good chance of playing for Finland considering he was the leading goal scorer in the tournament for the Gold Medal winning Finns at the U18 World Juniors this past April. He scored the game winning goal against the USA in the championship game. He was the LW on the top line with his centerman being Jesperi Kotkaniemi who was picked #3 overall by Montreal this past draft.
