NHL Announces Enhanced COVID-19 Protocol Through Holidays

The Blackhawks have had their share of issues with COVID this season as a team. Their schedule has also been impacted by teams dealing with COVID; they recently had a game against Calgary rescheduled and their upcoming game against the Florida Panthers (on Tuesday, Dec. 21) has been postponed. Something had to give as the league is on the brink of considering a league-wide shutdown.

On Saturday morning, the NHL and NHLPA jointly announced the immediate adoption of enhanced COVID-19 measures. The measures will remain in effect through the holiday season and the New Year. These new measures are a return to preventative measures consistent with last year’s Protocols for all players — vaccinated and unvaccinated —  and all members of each club’s traveling party.

You can read the complete new measures here

According to the league, these measures will be re-evaluated no later than Jan. 7, 2022, by the NHL and the NHLPA.

In the states where you have millions off peoples who don’t want to get vaccinated the Conditions will deteriorate very fast I think and the non vaccinated will be hit seriously and off course the vaccinated will be touch also . In Canada we are less peoples and more then 80% are vaccinated so the problem will be a bit smaller but still need to be very careful. The league will probably continue with no fans.and maybe will need to stop completely iff it become to serious.
Very strange that we don’t hear from the Chinese who hide it from the beginning..
Life continues and we will all get over it in a few years from now.
Hawks need a win tonight to get back on track .

How many professional athletes or coaches have been hospitalized or died from Covid? Is that a consideration, or is the word “Covid” enough to lead to major changes?

Like the rest of us, the sports leagues believed that the vaccines were the path to normalcy. That has turned out not to be the case. At a certain point, people need to ask if we were lied to or if people were just wrong. There is a difference and the difference is a big deal.

You have to believe the owners will resist going back to no fans or a partial cancellation of the season. That is expensive. When he can’t sell $10 beers at the UC, it affects Rocky’s pocketbook. Rocky doesn’t need the money, but at a certain point, the money is a way of keeping score. The higher the score, the better and Rocky wants a high score.

Talking to old Basketball friend at gym yesterday… he mentioned to me a couple guys we used to play with ( we are all in the 50s-60s age) – were recently found to need heart procedures… they were both un vaccinated and went to the hospital due to covid… further tests showed major heart conditions ( NOT related to Covid).

In summary- No one is reporting how Covid is saving lives! saved 2 right there! Dr. said they could have easily died of major heart attacks if they never checked in sick.

One of Drs who helped invent the Moderna vaccine was on news -stating that as of last nite– there were ONLY 10 Deaths in the world – caused by Omicron so far… and Omicron is the best possible outcome for the covid to morph to,,, highly contagious but very low mortality rates.

ROBS, We will never get the true answers to your legitimate questions. Needless to say the current regimes strategy is to vaccinate your way out of each variant. Look at the 5 indications of the Omicron variant and tell me how it differs from the common Cold. These Billion Dollar sports leagues are going to have to move on from shutting down because of asymptomatic cases. We all know the multitude of conspiracy theories out there and the politicization of this subject. We are beyond fatigued and skeptical.

Mitchell is getting more and more ready for NHL after getting more then 30 games in Rockford. Maybe this time he will stay with the team .

    Is Mitchell in the lineup?

Gabriel is sitting, thank the hockey gods. Davidson’s first trade is a bust

    @ROBS….agree 100%

Many NFL players are testing positive while being asymptomatic, are complaining about the protocols and are trying to get them changed

Deleting comments that don’t fit your narrative Tab? Sad stuff. Even the Bob Pulford era of Hawks allowed criticism. You posted an article on covid. At least have the decency to allow people to respond to it however they like without censoring like most media outlets anything you don’t like. This joke of a plandemic is going to blow up soon anyways and you are standing on the wrong side of history helping it along with censorship.

You can expect comments about Hawks exclusively on threads about the hawks, not realistic to expect only that on threads about other topics especially one as explosive as covid.

Love seeing Mitchell back up and hope he gets a real opportunity to supplant Gus in the normal lineup. Please trade Stillman for a bag of pucks, can throw in Gus and Gabriel too if you like. Man, hope (but dont really hope) Murphy is injured because that was the worst game I’ve seen him play since he came to hawks and we need him to be top 4 if not top 2. Btw, Caleb Jones is looking better and better. Liking what I’m seeing from him. Seth, Caleb, McCabe, and Mitchell, then dehaan, Wyatt/Gus, Stillman.

Well said Darren, they deleted my post on Covid as well. This blog is no different than Facebook or Twitter if you do not follow the liberal narrative about the Chinese virus….they hate the truth with facts to back up the truth….just plain sad.
