NHL Fines Girard For Hit On DeBrincat

On Thursday morning Samuel Girard was fined by the NHL.

The only penalty called on the play was on Blackhawks defenseman Erik Gustafsson for coming to DeBrincat’s defense.

Dirty cheap shot – glad the NHL acted quickly.

It is funny.Monday night against the Blues the Avalanche wanted no part of the physical game even after the Blues put them into the boards all night.Little Girard had difficulty finding anyone’s body.At least his Coavh was smart enough to pull Girard and then MacKinn9n out of harm’s way the final 4 minutes. There is always Saturday night.

There was a day not long ago that the team took care of this one the ice. Guess those days are gone. Other than Gus nobody really “stepped in”. Shameful. Says a bit about this team.

In my opinion, it should have been a one game suspension – a more suitable reminder that cheap shots will not be tolerated.

(…or, Saturday somebody could take his knee out – he can return to action skating with a limp?)

That little puke Girard cradled himself like a baby in fear when Gus launched himself at him. I actually thought most of the guys on the ice were enraged and showed it. However it was interesting that Keith called out the intensity of the team and Colliton after the game. Unfortunately Keith just does not have much left and is a shadow of what he was.

Brutal Refereeing. Kadri gets a stick in the mouth and no call And of course the DeBrincat hit as well. I figure the refs let the Kadri hit go because Kadri is an @ssh@le Refs look the other way when you’re a goon yourself The refs need to protect players from cheap shots like the one on the Kat. Just Disgraceful

Your right he’s not the same player game to game basis that he was.

But I do think that, although there’s not a lot left in the tank……………

There has to be at least a little and I won’t want to be on the other end of that if he decided to try and kick someone ass.

So why is there no call on the ice, seems like both refs guilty of puck watching.

At least the NHL is admitting a penalty on Girard should have been called

A 1 game suspension would have been appropriate too

Funny Dickie says for someone to take his knee out. Marc Crawford is away from the team for a few more weeks. We don’t need a Steve Moore incident. There’s a middle ground somewhere.

Fining Gerard pennies is BS. Give him 1-2 games. Complete cheap shot dirty play attempt to injure. Good for Gus!

The penalties need to be increased for dirty hits. Even if there had been a penalty called last night, it probably would have been 2 minutes although it was worthy of 5.

The league has no control over the amount of the fine, but why does the players’ union not want to better protect the players?

In the past, Q used to balance the need to retaliate with still needing to win the game. On Saturday, they need to legally beat on Girard all night long and if it causes someone to be out of position, so be it. There comes a point where it has gone on enough and it has now gone on enough with DeBrincat. Tell the goalies that they may have to make some tough saves but sending a message is now too important to be ignored.

I thought Colliton was in the ref’s face. I guess people want him jumping up and down and turning red. When people turn on a coach, the coach will NEVER do anything right again.

Robs this was argument i had about rule change to make Vegas happy, that majors are revued to confirm it was right call. Why wouldn’t they address missed majors, coach can challenge, or league watchdogs could request a review. After all wanting discourage injuries, wouldn’t going back to punish an unpunished major penalty hit do more to address that vs making sure 2 min penalty is not called 5 min. penalty.
