On Tuesday, the NHL and NHLPA have reportedly agreed to not have players participate in the 2022 Winter Olympic men’s hockey tournament in Beijing.
This sucks, but should surprise nobody. There are obvious concerns about COVID across the NHL, and those are only amplified by the conditions in Beijing and potential quarantine issues if a player tests positive at the Games.
Patrick Kane on the Olympics: "It’s just a tough situation for everybody. You always want to represent your country when you get a chance. I’m 33 right now, so you’re hoping you can play as many as possible.” #Blackhawks pic.twitter.com/2J3J7esK7Z— Charlie Roumeliotis (@CRoumeliotis) December 21, 2021
