Patrick Kane Played 2021 Season With Undisclosed Injury

Patrick Kane spoke with the media to close the 2021 season on Tuesday and shared some interesting news. According to Kane, he has been dealing with an injury since before the Blackhawks entered the bubble to return to play in the fall.

Kane still appeared in all 56 games this season, though he admitted some games felt better than others. He led the team with 66 points and his 51 assists were more than double anyone else on the team (Alex DeBrincat had 24).

It was pretty obvious he wasn’t 100% this season. Hopefully, whatever the issue is, it can be remedied, and can return to his usual dominant self.

Well, I for one am glad that Colliton used him sparingly knowing the team was not going anywhere and there was no need to aggravate or prolong the injury.

Any other coach, who was more concerned with his coaching record, would have played him 22+ minutes in meaningless games.

It took a sharp eye and experienced coach to see that Kane only scored 2 goals in his last 20 games, one being an empty netter.

I hope Kane appreciates that Colliton put his personal well-being ahead of a win-at-all-costs mentality.

To John Galt: Gee weren’t you just chastised a couple of days ago for bringing up that exact same subject??? Now I’m even more angry about the way this Organization is heading down the sewer. Would love to hear StanBo’s and Kid Coach’s explanation on why they were running him into the ground with no chance of the playoffs.

Hammer Time – Unless he didn’t disclose to anyone he was injured. Kaner is a gamer. I don’t believe he said anything to anybody.

4 goals in his last 33 games while playing over 22 minutes might have been a clue that something wasn’t quite right.

Competitors seldom complain or want to be taken out of the game. It’s why we now have protocols.

He is a warrior but needs some tuff teammates to look after him . Wake up Bowman or get out of town! Tough hard nosed physical players will open up space for him to do his thing. Period!

With Kamph as his Center how the hell could Kane possibly be effective .
He sure did pile up the assists though .

He was too busy setting everyone else up to score goals. Number 3 in the league in assists! Like he said, it was minor. Love watching him play.

Gunzo, I’m 100% positive that Kid Coach knew there was something up with him. Now we’re not privy to what the ailment was, it could have been very minor or it could have been something that was chronic for him like a partial tear of something or a slight dislocation of something probably upper body or chest because he looked like he was skating fine But if he said he had from the start there’s no way nobody on the medical staff or Kid Coach didn’t know anything. And Kid Coach still was calling his number with nothing on the line but his coaching record. A lot of fans sensed there was something off with him lately besides getting hacked every night from a opponent and being run into the ground from the “coach”.

Even with a “minor ailment”, He wasn’t -13 for the season… He can still skate like the rookies can… lmao…
Sure Kane let coach know he is GOOD with minutes played…

Off course Kane was happy to play more then 20 mins per game and all doctors for Hawks organization knew also it was not serious like Kane said.
Now he will have time to pass many test and hopefully he will be ready for another huge season
This year he had 66pts in 56 games so it’s a good season …not the best and not the worst season since is arrival in the league.
The good thing is he has less game played with that issue this year so they will find what’s going on and let see what hapend.
Kane is not stupid to play with a serious injurie and no coach would force a star to play with a injury when they know they can hurt the future.
    Just my 2 Pesos
    Love my Hawks

Macho you are correct. Didn’t Gretzky have McSorley on his wing? Lemieux with Stevens? Heck you don’t have far to look with Savard and Secord!

Let’s see who has the best hands of our biggest not soft guys. Must have a spine. Hardman Entwistle Barrett or go out and get one. Sanford or Copp. Plus leave them together all year long.

Kaner is a true athlete! Even with a minor injury he was out there in a big way! He stepped up in the absence of a Captain and played very well…he proved that you don’t have to score a bunch to be an asset! He will always be the best! I hope he takes the summer to heal!

Anybody that watched this year knew something wasn’t right. This kid can move and score with the best, this year the movement wasn’t there and the goals were way down.

The desire was not there – especially in the defensive zone. Unfortunately – he glided around, until an offensive opportunity came about. Maybe his injury was trying to carry the entire team on his back. The lack of desire & hustle defensively, and also to the bench on line changes were detrimental on many occasions. Toewes was a psycological team leader, in which Kane had no interest in. Unfortunately, some of the younger players (ie Dach) have picked up the “Kane-glide” as a way of their own on-ice desire too. Young players should be watching & trying to emulate how DeBrincat gives 100% hustle at BOTH ends of the ice.

Kaner has been carrying the load for years. I think he has missed 1 game in the last 6 years.
If he wants to glide from time to time, I can live with that and apparently his boss feels the same.
He will get some much needed rest now, and come back still being a major player and a joy to watch

Hossa was able to play 200 ft. Kane doesn’t. Goal scorers are worthless if they can’t play D and the boards.

I cant wait until the young wave has the roster loaded again so we can roll 4 lines. That when Kaner does wicked stuff because at certain points in the game his line is on agasint other teams weaker lines and it sick. When we have 4 lines again 19 and 88 will look like there still very good again.

Think about that the top teams look good because they have trickle. Its easy to triple team elite players when there isint 4lines to guard.

Add to this Hawks team of precocious upstarts, Toews (or a big Free Agent pick-up in his place) plus a couple of big scrappy players … Suddenly, we are a playoff team and can go from there building up maybe to a cup contender while Kane still has it.
