IceHogs Sign Forward Roy Radke

UPDATE: the Rockford IceHogs have now posted the news on their site. Roy Radke has signed an ATO with the IceHogs for the rest of the 2016-17 season.

According to Scott Powers of The Athletic – Chicago, the Rockford IceHogs have signed forward Roy Radke to a ATO contract.

Radke, 20, scored 23 goals with 13 assists for 36 points in 45 games with the Barrie Colts in the OHL this season. He missed significant time with a high ankle sprain earlier this season.

The pick used to select Radke in the 2015 NHL Draft (6th round – #164) was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings for Daniel Carcillo in July of 2013.

Would that mean they’re not sure if they want to sign him to an elc yet and want to see what he can do?

Radke- scored a few in Prospect scrimmages… heavy, hard wrist shot, always seemed to get open down ice… Couldn’t tell if he was good at anticipating zone exits or a “cherry-picker”… He was one guy who I wanted to see skate next to and up and down ice -with NHL Hawks to figure out his speed… Cuz in scrimmage- couldn’t really see his skating.

That’s how I read it Ernie. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was signed to a Rockford deal next year as well. Too many guys coming up that all won’t get elc’s.
