Report: Joel Quenneville On World Cup Coaching Staff

It doesn’t come as much surprise that Leafs coach Mike Babcock will once again serve as Canada’s head coach, but it appears Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville will join his staff for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey. As Dreger notes in the tweet above, the expectation is that Canada will name the staff on Thursday.

Another great honor for, arguably, one of the greatest coaches in the game today.

Talking about Coach Q the Blackhawks should reward him with a new, more substantial contract. This year is the right time. First half of the season.

Oddly I thought coach Q became a US citizen

I understand USA and Canada have dual citizenship but hey maybe you should be the US coach

One of the great coaches of all time. Brilliant hockey strategist, master of motivation and unwavering in what he demands of his players. The Hawks don’t get to 3 Stanley Cups without Quenneville. It is just as simple as that. The idiot brigade thinks a monkey could coach this team, but make no mistake the Q influence on winning. And there are a good many fine hockey players who reached the maximum of their abilities because this man coaxed it out of them and held them accountable.

What a dream gig. Toews, Crosby, Tavaras, Benn, Seguin, Stamkos, Getzlaf, Bergeron etc. up front and a defence where Seabrook isn’t even projected to make the team. Price in goal is the cherry on top.
