Report: Mike Reilly Goes Wild
According to a report, college free agent defenseman Mike Reilly has chosen to stay home and sign with the Minnesota Wild.
Reilly’s father is a minority owner of the Wild, and he played his collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota. The Blackhawks were rumored to be one of the other finalists he was considering.
Reilly is represented by agent Pat Brisson, who also reps Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.
Well that kinda sucks. Could be a blessing in disguise though as the bonus money he’ll get could hurt next year. Hawks need a left shot D.
Well ya can’t win em all.
I think he made the right choice. He grew up in Minny, played high school and college there, Dad’s an owner in the team – it would have seemed like betrayal to his family and friends had he signed with the division rival that ousted the Wild from the playoffs the last 3 years. I would have loved to have the Hawks sign him – but the young man decided correctly.
Maybe he likes to keep his months of May & June open for golf, fishing & stuff…….
Instead of playing hockey……..
JZ – that is funny – LMAO
Hope he becomes a scratch golfer.
I read he is a spoiled brat…
I am not upset. That does not sound like someone we need in our championship locker room anyway.
Arizona may buy out Gagner as they cant find a trade out there. Would anyone want to take Gagner on a cheap deal? Not necessarily as a center, just as a player that could play wing or center
Gagner was Kane’s center in juniors, if you ever saw their junior highlights, they were magic together. If he would come cheap after his buyout, I would love to see what they could do here.
Did Gagne and Kane play together before the NHL?
Reilly is a blessing, kid is gifted in offensive end, but below average in D zone, that can be hidden in collage as is run and gun hockey, but those lapse can’t happen in bigs, this kid is nick Leddy II, so as much as his signing appears to be sexy, I’m glad it worked out the way it did.
Ganger would be dirty, he would make magic with kaner, his D might be concern, but he’s big upgrade over Richards. Not to long ago Ganger and his line lit hawks up for seven goals in one game! If we can get him for a vet minimum like 1.5 or 2M might be worth a shot.
I think Gagne had 4 goals and 4 assists in that game.
yes turtle, they were line mates with London of the ohl, along with Kostitsen.
Don’t mind missing on Reilly have some good defense prospects coming through the system. Gagner could be a nice pick up at the right price. Looks like we might need to take less for Sharp and Bickell to move their salary teams know our cap problem.
Larry and others, I trust your judgment and analysis but it sure looked like Bowman was going to get him.
