Report: Wirtz — Not Bowman — Will Decide Colliton’s Fate
In this week’s episode of the “In the Crease” podcast from Linda Cohn and Emily Kaplan of ESPN, Kaplan discusses a reality many Blackhawks fans have assumed and tried to accept.
Jeremy Colliton is Stan Bowman’s hand-picked head coach. And Bowman isn’t about to fire him.
If the Blackhawks make a change, it will come from over Bowman’s head — which means ownership would need to step in.
Here’s the podcast:
As Jay Zawaski also noted on Twitter on Tuesday morning, the Blackhawks are one of the teams that isn’t spending big money because of the pandemic. And they would prefer not paying two coaches at the same time.
So here we are. A winless team making the wrong kind of history and the general manager has tied himself to the head coach, for good or (mostly) bad.
Agree but paying 2 coaches might be the better alternative than losing the fan base and great vibe they’ve built the past 15 years. Empty seats will hopefully be the determining factor. This crap on the ice can’t go on much longer. The team has completely collapsed and why I don’t know. On paper they’re better than last year and they weren’t this bad last year. They played ok in the preseason so what happened? This all can’t be on Colliton. But something really stinks here. In the media players say they’re behind JC but are they or have they tuned him off? On a player note, Fleury looks horrible and Toews looks ordinary.
I have never tuned in before and to hear 2 Jewish women talk biscuit and know Thrir stuff is very impressive. As a die hard Hawk fan, WTF is Wirtz waiting for? They both need to go (Jeremy and Stan). 500 plus sellouts on a row has come to a end and before this season is beyond salvageable, do something and spend money. We don’t need to go back to the Dollar Bill Wirtz ERA.
Chicago sports, it’s all the same. The only winner is a women’s basketball team and they generate the least revenue.
re: Herbie – gender & religious affiliation should NOT have any bearing on who/what/where you engage in sports media at this point. If it does, I’m sorry for you.
re: Herbie. Well said Tab. Thank you Tab for setting this guy straight. I happen to be Jewish and did not appreciate this comment or should I say slur. I’ve read many comments by Stefanie on here and I’m sure as a woman she did not appreciate that either.
I agree with Tab and Grey Hawk, what does being Jewish have anything to with sports ? That comment is unacceptable.
As for the empty seats…..part is because of the poor product on the ice and part is the vaxx and negative virus documents needed to enter the building…. let’s be realistic here, not everyone is agreeable in regards to this and most likely will not attend a game due to this tyrannical mandate….JMO
Thanks Grey Hawk; same goes for your posts. I appreciate your sentiment. Unfortunately not the first time I’ve run into those kinds of comments & it won’t be the last, as I’m sure is the same with you. I just feel sorry for people who think that way. I’m fortunate my Dad didn’t have that mentality, because I would’ve missed out on a whole lot–including my own participation in many sports ;)
Thanks Tab for stepping in on that guy and I also would like to add another affiliation that has no bearing on discussing our team: political affiliation. Don’t need any of that “stuff” here either.
Beer League: Don’t forget about another part of the reason why people aren’t showing up now: The “investigation”. That one is a big red herring for me and this team is still trying to shove it under the carpet. The longer this goes on with the silent treatment, the worse its going to get.
How far does he let this go, never saw a coach and Gm tied to him get this type of opportunity very often if at all.
Personally Jeremy has lost the team. Players are lazy probably out of shape that could be why there gassed in third period. Didn’t take Stan long to launch Q.The work ethic is not here need a hard nosed coach your thoughts? Stay at home save your money don’t mind losing but at least play hard!
Come on Rocky, grow a pair and fire this useless schmuck and take Stan with him.
The stadium protocols are not tyranny and whoever made that comment has vulcanized rubber for brains
BTW Turnout is still extremely high. Tyranny is the modus operandi that describes the authority Bowman was granted over the franchise. The Hawks have the opportunity to turn this disadvantage into a long term advantage. Let us hope they do. BTW Jeremy needs to be terminated ASAP
I am not one to Judge But after reading all I read one can only hope and believe going forward that behavior like this is taken seriously in any organization sport or private.
