Rockford IceHogs Add Brett Lebda to Training Camp Roster

The Rockford IceHogs made a final addition to the group on their training camp roster on Friday: veteran defenseman Brett Lebda.

Lebda, 30, is a Buffalo Grove native and has played in almost 400 regular season NHL games. He will be (by far) the oldest player on a suddenly-crowded blue line in Rockford, but brings Stanley Cup championship experience to the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate.

In Rockford, Lebda will join Nick Leddy, Dylan Olsen, Adam Clendening, Shawn Lalonde, Joe Lavin, Ryan Stanton, Ben Youds and Klas Dahlbeck in a battle for roster spots.

Listed at forward on the Rockford roster for their training camp are the following: Marcus Kruger, Brandon Saad, Jimmy Hayes, Ben Smith, Brandon Bollig, Andrew Shaw, Jeremy Morin, Kyle Beach, Brandon Pirri, Philippe Paradis, Brandon Svendson, Wade Brookbank, Byron Froese, Rob Flick, David Gilbert, Peter LeBlanc, Terry Broadhurst and Martin St. Pierre.

Carter Hutton, Kent Simpson, Mac Carruth and Alec Richards are all listed on the roster at goaltender.

That’s a loaded roster, lots of energy it seems. If we do get an extended lockout, will you be following the Ice Hogs? The only time I really get to see them play is when they are in town against the Wolves, and it would be nice to have some real insight into how they are doing, as well as their players.

Is that the reason he didn’t attend prospects camp? Because if I’m not mistaken most of the prospects are obligated to there respected teams.
