Rockford IceHogs Make Roster Moves
On Saturday, the Rockford IceHogs announced a series of roster moves, bringing their training camp roster to 25 players (17 forwards, seven defensemen and one goalie).
Four players were demoted to Indy. Forward Daniel Ciampini, defensemen Sam Jardine and Nick Mattson, and goaltender Mac Carruth were assigned to the Fuel, Rockford’s ECHL affiliate.
Defensemen Mathieu Brisebois was assigned to the Norfolk Admirals.
Rockford also released forwards Josh Brittain, Peter Schneider, Kyle Stroh, and Casey Thrush, defensemen Patrick Koudys, Ben Marshall and Kevin Quick, and goaltender Shane Owen from training camp tryouts.
Absolutely no surprises.
that said, Brisebois was Fournier’s homeboy. It’s show time for Fournier. Time to shine or time to buy – not rent – in Rockford.
Hof – any insight on Nolan Valleau? I know he played a year at Bowling Green and was signed as a free agent but they must like him more than the draft choices that went to Indy (Jardine and Mattson). Also, I assume Justin Holl was not offered a contract as he seems to have disappeared.
MS, Justin Ho;; signed with the Toronto system and will be playing in their minors this year. As for Nolan Valleau, too soon to tell. I suspect he will get a good long look in Rockford, may play some games in Indy to get his feet wet. They signed him to a two year entry level NHL deal so they see something in him. We will all know more about him by mid year.
No one really is talking about that disaster game in St. Louis. I thought Daley and Rundblad looked horrid. Darling made some fabulous saves but looked like hell on several of the goals. Now I know we didnt play our A team but anyone at this level wearing an Indianhead should have looked much better than they did. Hoping for a good effort tonight against the Stars, home crowd and all.
