Hours after losing long-time captain Daniel Alfredsson to Detroit in free agency, the Ottawa Senators acquired forward Bobby Ryan from the Anaheim Ducks for forward Jakob Silfverberg, prospect Stefan Noesen and a first-round pick in 2014.
