I like Dunc’s odds to win it this year! He’s been exceptional and makes the most sense when we win the cup!
JS- clue me in to the when and where… and you can collect your “fat-stacks”
is there a Hotel close to SWIG/walking distance?
JS- and maybe you want to give me odds on Hawks /Tampa…. -140/100???
Apparently the Lightning are blocking Hawks fans from not only buying tickets but wearing their gear! I was really expecting Hawks fans to show up in droves, it will be interesting to see if that is indeed the case.
As a matter of fact in late March a few weeks before the playoffs started I was in Southern Florida and was shocked to see some of the local bars playing a regular season Hawks game and TONS of Hawks fans wearing their sweaters. I’m sure the transplants will swoop up those tickets and sell them for an a hefty profit.
That depends what you consider walking distance and how nice of a hotel you require. SWIG is in a “trendy” area of the city, so there are some options around, but the big name hotels are probably about 2.5-3 miles away. Not to speak for Phil, but you probably wouldn’t have to twist his arm to hitch a ride back to a hotel.
The plan, boys and girls (girls of the blog or wives), is for us to meet at SWIG on Saturday for Game 2. It’s at 1469 N Milwaukee. About a 3 minute walk from the Damen Blue Line stop. They have a delicious beer and liquor selection, and food that tastes good sober, but even better after a few tasty beers. Seats will be reserved. Puck drop is apparently at 6:15 on Saturday, so I’m aiming to be there at 5:30. Don’t judge me if I’m drunk by 6.
SWIG on Saturday at 6!
Wall did you want TB or Chicago?
Anyone have Hull presale code to get tickets tomorrow?
Keith is my #1 choice so far.
Followed closely by Kane and Toews, and Saad who didn’t even make the list. Saad is just my favorite forward in the nhl, so I’m biased there.
Crawford lost his chances in the first round against the Preds.
I was in Tampa late Feb and went to see the Hawks play (friggin lost 4-0). The place was pretty packed and I would say MORE than half the crowd was wearing red Hawk gear. Where we sat there was a family of Lightning fans SURROUNDED by Hawks fans…..he was not happy until it was 3-0.
I spoke with the manager of the “gear” stores in the stadium. He said he’s never seen anything like it. He also said we wished he was selling Hawk gear……funny
It will be interesting to see how many Hawks fans show their colors. Go Hawks
JS- I will take the Bolts- If Hawks win you get $100… if I win you pay $140… I think that’s what the Hawks Favored-line is @ -$140 means… probably should pay me $130 (guessing bookies get 10%)… ( on top of the Buck I owe you)
anyhow- this is of course – me just trying to keep a good thing going ( I’m like -Robert De Niro in Silver Lining’s Playbook)…
win/or lose… I WIN!!!
Wall the Hawks lose and you win? Over a few bucks-say it ain’t so!
Do what you want, but you guys should keep it to the other on only.
Maintain good vibes.
Keith wins Conne Smyth. Agree with Morrison …”maintain good vibes”…Had the best day Sunday and today…still bouncing off the walls, …damn we are good!
Conn Smythe…so excited put the “e” on the wrong letter.
Wall, I too am an accomplished cooler- among my finest failures, I bet on Green Bay in NFC championship and Seattle in SB, had both in the bag with seconds left to go. I “lost” my mojo winning on Mayweather though, would have gladly lost my $ to see that miserable human fail. Anyway, the jersey/color restriction is the saddest story of these playoffs. WOW. Pathetic, pitiful, and possibly unenforceable. BUT WAIT-STROKE OF GENIUS–BLUE AND WHITE INDIAN HEAD SWEATERS!!! John McDonaugh, you read this blog don’t you? Make it so! And go a step further: Make blue Hawks T-shirts to give away at the United Center, so the whole stadium is filled with blue out of irony, maybe that will make the poor little Bolts feel better.
Noonan96… I don’t want to ruin a good thing with JS/and “calling series”… everytime
I bet against the Hawks they “let me down”!!!
I also bet on Flyers in 2010 against a friend… So – You see my track record is PERFECT!!! Why mess with the Mojo!!!
If the Hawks are -140 then $100 on that would be in the $70 dollar range I think.
Bolts at +120 on a $100 bet would win $120.
Anyway, should be an open and ridiculous series to watch. The Hawks are evens or slightly the underdog for game one which is interesting. Lotta goals should happen. Nothing really sexy going on in terms of the over\under which is disappointing.
The deal is on for Swig Chicago Saturday for all of you that would like to join us to watch Game 1. If I can get an idea about who will be there I can get seats in a group with good views of the TV’s. The owner/proprietor(my son Josh, a big fan, decent player in his own right) always welcomes all Hawks fans. It’s an early puck drop so it would be great to see the group expanded for these exciting Finals apart from JS, AJ, and myself.
Yes Wall, as JS mentioned, we will find a way to get you safe and sound back to your place of lodging.
Lets Go Hawks!!
Just for odds clarification… Negative Lines represent what needs to be bet in order to win $100. Positive lines represent what you will win by placing a $100 bet. Thus, at the below lines you would need to risk $140 to win $100 profit if betting on the Hawks. On the other side, by risking $100 on the Lighting, you could win $120 profit.
Chicago Blackhawks (Series Prices) -140 (5/7)
Tampa Bay Lightning (Series Prices) +120 (6/5)
JS- are you in on the bet?
Of course, Wall. I wouldn’t want to break your streak! We’ll let the initial 100 ride, so if Hawks win, 70 more to me. Bolts win, 20 to you?
I wonder when Tab will yell at us for placing bets.
Your on JS- I can see Hawks getting shut out once or twice in this “high scoring ” series…
