Tab, if he does return to Russia and signs a contract with someone, are the Hawks able to write off his contract and cap hit-or does it follow them all year no matter where he plays?

  • December 5, 2015 at 6:36 pm

If he’s in Rockford all but 90k comes off the books. Prior to having his contract terminated he would need to be placed on waivers. Both parties have to mutually agree to terminate the contract. If Bickell returns the 950k that comes off of Tikhonov is placed back on Bickell. Cap wise that would be a wash.

Now, if Tikhonov returns to Russia he can pretty much wave goodbye to any chance of returning to the NHL. Radulov is a long shot to return and he’s actually productive.

So if he returns to Russia the contract would be terminated and there would be no more cap hit.

If Bickell comes back as the buzz seems to indicate, I would love a Cinderella story. We could use one 29.

    No loss…

  • December 5, 2015 at 7:46 pm

    ….#15 can translate for Panarin.

That’s one move, we have 3-5 more guys that need to go also.

  • December 5, 2015 at 7:50 pm

Just waivers…hope he is outa here.

  • December 5, 2015 at 8:32 pm

Some team will claim him on waivers, which team may influence his decision as to Russia.

  • December 5, 2015 at 9:41 pm

Which him well back in St Petersburg. Let’s face it, the only reason he was signed in the first place was to grease the skids for Panarin. Now with Anisimov in place Tik can collect his $1.05 M for doing and go back home to drink Russian vodka.

Need a fuckin edit button on this shithole of a website Arab…

Wish him well back in St Petersburg. Let’s face it, the only reason he was signed in the first place was to grease the skids for Panarin. Now with Anisimov in place Tik can collect his $1.05 M for doing and go back home to drink Russian vodka.

Don’t come here then if you can’t proofread what you write and if its gonna bother you. Asshole.

  • December 5, 2015 at 11:41 pm

You have to give him credit. He pretty much told the Hawks and more specifically the coach who refuses to play him, Fine. If you don’t want me I will go elsewhere. The guy is a good 4th line nhler, hard on the puck, defensively responsible etc.

But if the Hawks are not going to play him, give him a fair shot to play in the NHL, much like Tim Erixon last year. The guy wants to play, can’t fault him for that. No reason to bash him at all. A professional hockey player who wants to play hockey.

    — from what (little) I saw, he was a much better player than Mashinter (and, I know I’m not alone). Q and/or Stan – their love affair with Mashinter? I guess it proves that you can win three Cups in six years and still be FULL of shit at times…?

“Shithole of a website”? This is the best Chicago sports web site ever, Rufus, you fucking moron.

You and your repetitive, overstated, illogical, doomsday-bullshit comments, day after day, are what’s “shithole.” Why don’t you fuck off for a while and spout your stupid assed opinions into the mirror?

  • December 6, 2015 at 2:01 am

Rufus, don’t be a douche wipe.

This is the only website worth my time when it comes to reading about and discussing our beloved Blackhawks. Half of you old bastards have a leg up on the NHL network “analysts”.

Lets hope Bickell can find his game. We need the guy from the 2013 post season back.

  • December 6, 2015 at 7:11 am

Not liking this one bit. Why is everyone drooling for Bickell to come back? Are you serious? Agree with Craig Nigrelli’s comments. Lets hope there is more to the story than we know and Panarin stays happy and productive. This is not good at all.

Mining man, Tikhonov has given you essentially the same thing Bickell has. Nothing, at least offensively. Bickell down in Rockford has 14 points in 12 games.

Now, forgetting salary, and recent history. We know the Hawks desperately need a LW. That’s something even Rufus can see. Say I told you the Hawks had a kid in Rockford that is over a ppg player and is the second leading scorer in roughly half the games. We’d be screaming for a call up. Maybe he shows enough for that that contract to be more palatable for another team to trade for.

Other gripes I have. MASHINTER. Id rather have David Rundblad playing forward than Mashinter. Produces nothing offensively, hasn’t fought….or even hit, not on the pk,and is allowing Toews to fight. That’s your job…your only job. Be out there so Toews and others with skill don’t have to be in the box from doing your job.

Rundblad- Needs games. Send him down on a conditioning stint, get some games. He hasn’t played that many professional games and sitting him in the press box is only going to be more detrimental if a minor injury occurs and you don’t want to place the guy on LTIR and can’t call anyone up. He hasn’t played since Oct. 29. Cap wise I believe a conditioning stint players are still on the cap for the time they’re down so they couldn’t call anyone up. Maybe this is another reason for Tikhonov being placed on waivers. Room to call up a defenseman while Rundblad gets at least some game action.

My last gripe goes to the ungrateful degenerate that is Rufus. If this is such a horrible site, create your own. Put the time and effort together to make something that you perceive is better. When you do, be sure to let everyone here know the URL so we can know where not to frequent. Although your repetitive banter would shine through and we could tell pretty quickly. Nobody would go there, but at least you would have an edit function. Rufus T. Firefly…. More like a mosquito. Annoying as fuck and no matter how many times you kill them, they keep coming back to annoy the piss out of you. I suppose the character you’re attempting to portray is rather accurate. Only in this scenario also known as reality, nobody has appointed you leader. Except for possibly yourself. You do however seem to be doing a good job at insulting and annoying everyone and seemingly trying to run us off. Only were not going anywhere. Go start up your own site and you can appoint yourself leader. We’ll all hurl fruit at you as you leave.

To Tab and everyone else, thanks for making this the best and only place I come to converse with Hawks fans. I enjoy the informed dialogue that we have.

I agree with the above comments, this is the best Hawks blog by far. I look for blogs with intelligent hockey discourse and I get it here. As far as #29 is concerned I hope he stays in Rockford. He can’t skate, is marginal defensively, is a possession killer, and is inconsistent. He is no longer and NHL player.

  • December 6, 2015 at 8:26 am

Craig N and DickieD… gotta agree… Tiko, is an excellent skater/forechecker… and scores about as much as Half the roster (in half the games- zero)… but still liked the guy as a 4th line/forechecker…

that is how desperate Hawks are for some Offense- Handcuffs-

Best thing that could happen- Bickell gets about 3 points in next 5 games… and some other GM is Dumb enough to take him off SB’s hands

at the end of the day- Hawks really need somebody to score (other than Kane line)

And Hawks need some of the recent Draft picks (Hogs- show no promise- other than Sved/Gust… but that’s D side)… Really need some College/CHL guys to contribute O side… soon (like next year)… Motte, Olofsson, Schmaltz, Hayden???

Schmaltz (never been fan- due to lack of compete (in my eyes))… is lighting it up…
as is his winger Drake Caggulia (UFA)… Let’s hope SB can sign the next Panarin out of UFA/college/Euro

I was of record in training camp and thereafter that Tikhonov signing was a waste of cap space. There was no need to sign a marginal (at best) player like him to $1M guaranteed contract. That being said, he didn’t get a fair shake and is far more useful than Mashinter. Speaking of, if the only reason Mashinter is on the roster as the extra forward (which he isn’t extra since he has played all eleven games in a row), then send him down and recall Dowell, who makes the minimum NHL salary.

  • December 6, 2015 at 9:10 am

…. Omitted the only reason Mashinter in roster is b/c of the low salary he makes (similar to Dowell’s) fits into the tight cap space. Thank you

No fan of what Bicks (aka handcuffs) has done with the Hawks this year but hope he figured some things out and will come back and play like the big man he should be. Probably gets the Lottery spot on LW with 19-81.
Am a big fan of this blog. Great stories, great group of regulars, Rockford updates, it’s like sitting around the table at Thanksgiving with family. You don’t agree on everything but your thankful you get to be there.

F’ing Bickell even when he is not on the team he pisses me off. Keep his ass in RFD!

  • December 6, 2015 at 10:46 am

Hey Ernie, blow it our your ass.

Tik was signed for one reason. And we all know it. To facilitate getting Panarin to sign, period. So essentially he got a $1 M fee to be a caddie. And now he is no longer needed.

Hawks have such a crisis at LW that we are going to now try Bickell, a shell of his former self mentally and physically. Probably not going to have a happy ending, but there is nothing at forward in Rockford that is better. Hartman is devolving into Kyle Beach and Mark McNeil status.

The Hawks know they are in a bit of trouble. If help isn’t coming then they are going to have to figure this out on their own and find a way to the playoffs.

  • December 6, 2015 at 11:03 am

According to Scott Powers,Also told Viktor Tikhonov isn’t considering returning to Russia right now. He plans to report to Rockford if he clears waivers.

  • December 6, 2015 at 11:15 am

I hope that as Tik walks out the door he holds it open long enough for Runbladt to follow him out that door,

The whole signing and lack of playing time and now his quick exit is a bit puzzling. Seems like Q never wanted him — like Morin,Pirri,Runbladt and others.

I doubt BB will do much for the Hawks but it is worth a try. Something needs to be done.

  • December 6, 2015 at 12:52 pm

Rufus let’s get our timeline straight shall we?

    Panarin signed in April

Saad traded to Jackets in June, Anisimov whos also a Russian and speaks English was part of that deal.

    Tikhonov signed in July.

  • December 6, 2015 at 1:07 pm

Flatliner, Ernie, couldn’t have said it better than you guys did. Rufus is an embarrassment to an otherwise great site. The only edit button needed is the one that edits him out for good.

  • December 6, 2015 at 3:30 pm

Sr Brad wouldn’t put up with that bogus stuff.
