World Junior Championships: Blackhawks Prospects Back In Action
All five of the Blackhawks’ prospects were on the ice at the World Junior Championships on Tuesday.
In the first game of the day, the United States hammered Latvia 12-2. Adam Clendening scored in the second period and added an assist, while Stephen Johns added one assist in the game.
Brandon Saad tied a team-high with four assists for the USA, and he finished with a team-best plus-six rating in the game. Saad now has five assists in the tournament, and his plus-eight rating is tied for the best mark in the field. Austin Watson led the USA with seven points (three goals, four assists) in the game.
The USA plays Switzerland on Wednesday evening.
Later in the day, Sweden needed a shootout to advance past Finland. Joakim Nordstrom and Ludvig Rensfeldt were held off the score sheet, and were minus-one each, in the game.
